Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks DSG. Pours black with a small head, aroma of dark bread, light acidity and wood, flavor is bitter with coffee, chocolate, cherries and smoke, medium bodied, great b3shine (8864) - Indiana, USA - SEP 20, 2012
Bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; black with mocha lacing. Smells solid; chocolate, malt, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. Good, but overrated IMO. Ericular (1019) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 19, 2012
I’m not a fan of coffee flavor at all, and this beer has some. But compared to the last couple ultra-dark beers I’ve had, it’s a lot more tolerable. More smoke and roast taste than coffee. If I ever find myself in the mood for this style, this would be the one to grab. timc100 (314) - Park Ridge, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 12, 2013 Gorgeous mocha-beige head, dark dark brown. Smells subtle and sublime - big roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee. Tastes incredibly smooth and balanced - great roasted finish. Feels great - solid medium body with soft carbonation. What else could you ask for in a porter? Enjoyed this beer on tap at Hinge in Northmapton, MA. The beer had a rich, thick black color with a dark brown hue and a good-sized creamy-foamy off-white head with good retention and lacing, and great cling. Its aroma featured a blend of chocolate and caramel malt, with light touches of coffee, and some lighter earthy and floral hops. The taste was sweet and malty with features of chocolate, a bit of caramel, and some mild grainy-earthy bitterness, which was well blended. The body was slightly creamy and a touch on the wet side with average carbonation and fizz, and a good, filling and creamy mouthfeel.

From tap. Black with almost no head (small flight glass though). Aroma is awesome with roasted coffee, chocolate, sweetness. Taste is smooth with chocolate and coffee. A very nice solid porter. EvanFriend (591) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 12, 2012
Lots of roasty and chocolate notes, a slight hint of coffee and smoke. Thick and silky mouthfeel. Great beer. Hammy78 (973) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 12, 2012
Bottle picked up at Premier Gourmet in Niagara Falls New York. Pour is ridiculously opaque, with a small tan head and little islands of lacing that don’t really stick to the glass walls. Smells quite obviously malty, caramel and dark chocolate. Tastes like sweet dark chocolate, there are hints of tobacco in there too. Really awesome. rumproasts (5356) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 11, 2012

355ml bottle, bottled 29/05/12. Almost pitch black with a small mocha colored head. Aroma is a little subdued, showing slight caramel, roastiness, bitter chocolate and burnt sugar, leaning more on the sweeter side as it warms up. Not bad. The flavor starts off with chocolate and rolls into a dry, long and roasty, almost burnt toast finish with a hint of smoke and ash. Mouthfeel is a little thin and coating. A good, roasty porter.
