Redish brown color. Can smell hops but they smell diffent. Tastes like it smells but better. I love this kind of rye, hops and bitterness at the end. Great beer. blankboy (7714) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 18, 2006
Bottle courtesy of Thaichile. Bottle opened with a loud "POP" and the beer came gushing out! I was able to catch some of it and luckily it stopped gushing shortly after. It poured a murky reddish-brown with a massive long lasting foamy off-white head. Pour this sucker very carefully! I had to wait a while before I could actually drink it. Aroma of floral hops, sweet malt, some spices and a good amount of rye. Flavour of sweet malt, rye, spices, some alcohol and a long hoppy finish. Medium to full bodied. Unique and quite enjoyable. Tasted side by side with the black rye. Poured a hazy red body with a moderate head. Aroma is caramel malts with lotsa hops, reminded me of Arrogant Bastard. Hop notes are spicy, citrusy and light grapefruit. There is also a detectable alcohol presence in the aroma, woulda guessed more than 6.8%. The rye presence is here moreso than the black. I liked this one more at the start of the tasting, and less by the end. Still, I scored them exactly the same.. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 5, 2006
Hoppy aroma with not much else. Pours a nice orange with a lovely white creamy head. Flavor is pretty strongly hopped with a touch of malting throughout (light on caramel, sprouts). Very crisp. It dissappoints me that the very distinct rye is never really realized in any rye beers. GonZoBeeR (3061) - ste-catherine, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 28, 2006
Aroma:Very hopy nose,light caramel...
Appearance:Redish color with small chunk of yeast, good head....

Thanks to Illinismitty, a new member in Tennessee, for this one!
This pours with a disappointingly small head of off-white.
Medium red/orange hazy body.
Big ’C Hop’ aroma. Sweet in the start, the dry bitterness builds nicely providing a well balanced finish. core (19) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 21, 2006
12 oz bottle. Aroma is hops and rye. Flavor is more of the same. A little too bitter for me. Bigassfish (140) - Naperville/Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 21, 2006

Its red, as the name suggests. Thin tan head. Spicy aroma, with a hint of sweetness. Big dose of citrus pine, as well. Big hop flavors up front that meld into orange, pine, caramel and I’m gonna say rye. again, as the name suggests. Thanks to Springslicker for sharing! beervana (781) - Libertyville, Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2006
(02.16.06) 12 oz bottle from Archer Liquors, Chicago, IL. Hazy red hued rye ale having a small white head. Nice fruity/hoppy aroma. Medium-to-full bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy/fruity/toffee/hop flavors. Finishes dry with lingering hop (grapefruit) flavor and bitterness. Well balanced. Delicious giant beer. Another excellent offering from Founder’s.
