UPDATED: JUL 11, 2008 In short: A tasty dry cacao-vanilla porter/stout. Excellent beer.lb4lb (2587) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 30, 2008
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Black body with a little beige ring of foam
In long: Vanilla and cacao harmoniously join forces and create a strong resemblance to the much respected Dieu Du Ciel Aphrodisiaque. Full body, lots of carbonation, floury cacao, medium roastiness level, overall dry feeling, sharp bitterness, citric notes in the finish with a pleasant tartness. This is not a smooth and round porter, this is a tasty and sharp beer. Excellent brew. As good as it is I will keep drinking the Aphrodisiaque when I’m looking for this flavour profile (1,100 miles closer to me and with the price of gas these days…).
Sampled from a growler at DLD. Thanks!
Pours a nice dark brownish black with a very small head. Smell is vanilla and roasty malt. Taste is mostly the same with a roasty malt flavor, low bitterness and with some chocolatey flavors and a lot of vanilla. Body is a bit thin, or at least seemed so, in my sample and the carbonation was light to medium.

Sampled during Dark Lord Days ’08 and shared by dm9831. From growler pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin light tan head that has some good retention. Aroma of toasted dark malts, some vanilla, dark pitted fruits and a touch of red licorice. Taste is medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of toasted dark malts, chocolate, a touch of vanilla and some hint of coffee. Finish is a little gritty at first and then a toasted dark malt aftertaste with vanilla cream. An interesting little bugger, and would like to try this one again. sneagrams3 (2337) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 10, 2008
Tasted 4/27/08. 4oz sampler from the brewpub. Dark brown and opaque hue. Beige head. Touch vanilla in the nose. So smooth. So rich. Medium to full bodied with a great roast. Nice sweet vanilla syrup flavor. Reminds me of A&W Cream Soda. Good effervescence. Tangy palate. Good spiced brew!

Pours a very nice dark brown in color with a nice foamy head. Smell is vanilla hazelnut. Taste is much the same, with some slight chocolate and dark fruit underneath. Good beer. An improvement on a already good porter.
Tap at brewpub: Deep brown with a nice creamy tan head and left very nice lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of vanilla and chocolate, walnut, bready malts, prune, and a hint of star anise. The taste starts sweet and malty with the vanilla counterbalanced by the coffee and hop bitterness. Plenty of mocha and a hint of herbal qualities too. The mouth feel is silky smooth and a tad thin, medicinal aftertaste. Not too shabby for what it is, I was worried but the vanilla works here. On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with small brown head. Aroma of coffee and vanilla (of course). Tastes much better that I expected as I really do not like vanilla. Almost like coffee and ice cream.
