Our porter is brewed in the traditional English style. It has a deep brown color and a creamy tan head. The mouth feel is highlighted with soft notes of chocolate and slight undertones of roasted coffee. Hop bitterness is nicely balanced with the malt and hop aroma being very low, typical of the English style.

Draft @ brewery. Earthy coffee and mocha aroma. Deep chestnut with a small beige head. Roasty fresh coffee flavor. Body on the light side of medium, soft carbonation.

12 oz bottle from Big Red Liquors in Carmel, Indiana. Beautiful crystal clear ruby/brown color with a very thin veil of light tan head. Roasted malt and wood aromas with a bit of chocolate. Some of that chocolate comes through lightly as milk and bittersweet. Perfect roasted grain flavor that expands through the sip with a fresh brewed coffee note. Light sweetness with a root beer component which is balanced by just enough earthy hop bitterness. Great roasted, woody aftertaste that lasts and ties up the taste perfectly. There’s a really elegant mix of flavors and the balance is awesome. I rate this very highly as it seems to match (to my limited knowledge) the profile of an English porter which is hard to find these days. Excellent!

Aroma: Moderate roast with some coffee character; a touch of vanilla and underlying chocolate rounds out the nose. Appearance: Color is very dark brown/black with a creamy bone head. Flavor: Primarily coffee roast that tends toward astringency; chocolate and other notes are very muted. Palate: Full body, slick texture, average carbonation, long finish. Overall: Disappointed in how this one turned out, considering the noteworthy nose. Mostly average.

Pretty run of the mill Porter. Very drinkable, but not memorable all of the favors in the description where present, but they felt muted. Had a please the BMC crowd feel to it.

Bottle (from stfun) Appearance: Opaque black with short lasting off-white head
Aroma: Fruity, alcohol, chocolate
Taste: Fruity, banana undertones, with slightly bitter dark chocolate flavors
Palate: Full mouthfeel, slightly chalky, unique cocoa like bitterness, but finishes sweet and dry.
Overall: Interesting porter that brings in some elements that make it quite enjoyable and different than "american" porters.

Bottle. Clear darker brown pour. Actually a really dark red would be more like it. Heady is light and creamy then rapidly falls to a ring. Nose is flowery and herbal hops mixed with some chocolate, coffee, and toasty aromas. Flavor is again, chocolate, burnt coffee, toasted malts and has a distinct minerally profile. Low carb and a full body. Pretty tasty.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee grounds, roasted nuts, roasted malt. Flavor of roasted and charred malts, roasted nuts, peanut butter, and chocolate. A roasty, coffee flavored porter. Excellent! 8/4/8/4/14 (3.8/5)

A nice creamy and rich up front taste that is smooth. A bitter aftertaste with some acidity. Roasted barley flavors and cola flavors. Not much for aroma. Nice chocolate appearance with a thin tan head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown-black with a taller khaki head that leaves some solid lacing. Nose of toffee and nuts, light mocha and coffee, and a fair hoppiness, somewhat more reminiscent of a brown ale. Some sweetness with more bitterness and a light tartness. Fairly active carbonation, slick, with a longer roasty finish. A pretty decent brew.

Very good porter, all the toast/chocolate/coffee tastes that you’d expect are there. It’s one of my favorite styles when done right, and this one definitely is. I will have to go on an Indy beer tour someday and try some more Fountain Square.
