This was a real surprise to my latest mix and match - excellent double IPA with a massive nose and awesome quality taste. Will pick up again for sure - I didn’t expect much with it and really enjoyed it!

Poured golden amber from bottle - thin white head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma wasn’t particularly strong, but pleasant with the citrus hops dominating. Flavor was quite good...very hop forward with citrus and piney hops working together - and a decent amount of malt backbone, though the 9% ABV suggests it is more DIPA than branded. Palate was, well, thick for an IPA and thin for a DIPA...but it worked nicely - and the 9% is hidden in there. Overall, I thought this was quite a good beer, and one I’d visit again in the future!

I didn’t think this beer was too bad. Definitely a bolder pale ale, not quite the flavor of an IPA. I’m a little surprised by the description of 9% alcohol as I didn’t detect any alcohol in the flavor with the beer seeming too light to hid it.

Pours red. Head is small and non lasting. Nose is quite citrusy, resinous, and moderately caramel like. Flavor is again citrus, fruits, resinous pines, some floral qualities, dankness, bitter hops, grass and darker roasted caramels. full body but dry bitter finish. Not horrible for an Indiana IPA.

Purchased a 6 pack based on recommendation at my regular carry out. Find it unexciting. As others have said nothing special.

Patrickctenchi (6593) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JUN 20, 2012
Pours cloudy orange with thin tan head. Scent is faint fruit, stronger pine. Taste is mildly bitter citrus..peppery, a little biscuity. Nothing special, but pretty decent.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2013 Sample on tap at Four Horsemen. Golden orange pour with a fairly substantial off-white head consisting of some larger bubbles and dissipating somewhat slowly. Nose is some light citrus with perhaps a dash of pine in there, but not really powerful. Taste is a little sweet with a moderate bitterness, but I’m not sure about it being 95 IBU. Palate is quite thin, prickly with carbonation if not bitterness, concluding with a rather abrupt and twangy finish. It just falls short in every category. Even against single IPAs it would be lacking. This is one of my local breweries, and I want to be proud of it. It seems like they’re planning on doing Hop Rush year round, and recently they’ve begun bottling it for 6-packs, but I’d rather see it as a limited release if that meant they could beef up the body and throw more hops in. As constituted, this is misleading. <<update>> Had to share in the joy of failure, so I grabbed a bottle, dated early-mid July 2013. Murky amber, ridiculously over carbonated to where the head takes a million years to settle even on the slowest pour. Nose is like a Belgian sour, but not one you want to drink. Taste is like gritty pancakes covered in ketchup. Palate is just awful. Drainpour. Thanks for the memories, dickheads.

This IPA is fantastic!! For a 9% abv IPA I find this brew to be very well balanced. This beer pours with a rich amber color and creamy head. Taste is biscuity followed by citrus hops that linger on the tongue. Aroma is citrus and malty. The beer finished very clean for a 9% beer! This is an IPA that you can drink a lot of but be careful the alcohol will sneak up on you. I will be back for growler fills of this for sure!

On tap at the four horsemen brewery in South Bend, In. The board at the brewery said that this was over 9%. The 7% that’s listed here seems much more accurate althogh I think both are a stretch. Pours a dark golden color with a creamy white head. The aroma is candy, resin, and some citrus. Taste is dry, hoppy, medium bitterness and a bit of a weird metallic finish. I’d skip this one. Nothing special
