COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

Tasty little brew. Deserves highmarks for its middle-road excellence. Full of nice flavors, very fresh tasting out of the can. Good drinkin beer, not too heavy for the pool.

Few things make me happier than the moment I crack a can of beer, hear the hiss and smell the powerful perfume of Humulus lupulus. This one here, doesn’t disappoint on this front. Perhaps it’s the novelty of the can, perhaps it was the setting to which this was consumed, but everything worked and myself and a few belly busting friends downed a 12er of this in record time. It was delicious. I got wrecked. The rest is history.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 On tap at Four Peaks and at the Sheraton Phoenix Airport. Crystal clear light copper color witha quickly disappearing white head. Strong fresh hop aroma rising off this. Astringent, slighty resiny pine and grapefruit and light citrus flavors from the hops with a good balance from the caramel malt flavor, but it’s really just there as a base for the hops. Definitely a hop lovers beer, the bitterness bites in and sticks around long after you’ve swallowed it. From reading a few of the other reviews, I have a feeling this beer is best fresh from the tap rather than from a bottle that’s had to travel. All these delicious hop flavors probably don’t fare as well when they aren’t as fresh which is a shame for those who aren’t in Phoenix to get it that way. Tasty, well-made IPA.

Can. Pours a nice golden orange color with a white head. Aroma is of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple and sweet malt. Flavor has lots of dank grapefruit and an almost cat pee flavor which makes me think of Simcoe hops, again I get orange, tangerine and pineapple with some sweet malt. The body is on the lighter side of medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a pretty tasty IPA, but feels a little more like an APA since it isn’t as hoppy as most IPAs.

On Tap at the Scottsdale Brewery location. Good beer. Lots of hops, like an IPA from the west coast should be. Nice clean look with minimal head, not a ton of aroma. Flavor was hops and delicious.

Can to shaker - pours cloudy heavy yellow with a nice head and lacing. Has a nice grapefruit hop nose and taste, a medium body and dry finish. Good IPA and one that is local but could complete nationally.

On tap at Brick in Phoenix. Pours clear copper with small head that clings well. Nice pine nose with citrus undertones. Medium silky body and medium carbonation. Medium bitterness from start to finish. Decent IPA but nothing to make it stand out.

Fantastic aroma of floral citrus hops. There was not much bitterness to the beer, but was very refreshing and light. When I say light, however I mean almost too light in body. The appearance and aroma were fantastic and the beer tasted good on first drink, but overall it fell short.

Aroma: malty and sweet; Appearance: hazy orange pour with thin white head that lingers; Taste: also malty but with a bit of hoppiness; Palate: medium body with medium finish; Overall: too sweet for an IPA; would not get again.

tap. A nice solid offering but doesn’t have anything that sets it apart from other ipa’s. Good enough that I would have again though.
