3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2012 Always tapped on the first of the month, to my knowledge. Pours a warm orange color from the tap at the brewery with a large tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Great aroma. Smells of sweet red apples and orange rind. A bit sour for a barley wine, but balanced with caramel.
This is a really nice barley wine that drinks like an imperial IPA. Golden and Hoppy. I guess this is available in the beginning of the month in Tempe. MarinEvelyn (854) - Wisconsin, USA - NOV 8, 2014
Hoppy but not overpowering, nicely balanced. Something different/off in the aroma that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s not necessarily bad, but it’s not great either. decent beer. beerbaaron (1998) - Arizona, USA - OCT 25, 2014
Draft. Deep ruby amber with a soapy white head. Plenty of character but not over the top. Hop forward but nicely balanced. Aroma kinda funky (and not in a good way..). No booze. maley1 (1273) - Calgary, CANADA - FEB 12, 2014
Slightly hazy golden orange pour with small off white head. Aroma of caramel, fruity, malt and hops. Taste of caramel, toffee, malts, yeast, slightly fruity and nice smoothed out hop finish. Full bodied, lower carbonation, sweetness somewhat masking the high ABV. Very good beer! JBoan (176) - Arizona, USA - SEP 25, 2013
On tap @ brewery. Pours hazy golden amber-ish with white head. Aroma is sweet malts, oak, brandy, toffee, caramel and booze. Taste is sweet, bitter hops, caramel and oak. Full bodied thick beer. Decent brew.

Lots of sweet sugars and hops in the aroma - smells a bit like Dogfishhead 90 minute. This is quite tasty. Lots of hops but at times it has some Belgian strong characters to it. This is easily my favorite of the Four Peaks beers. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Tap at the brewery. Rating #74. Real good stuff, dark and hazy golden pour. Nice hop aroma with a bit of oxidation. Flavor was similar, decent hop aftertaste. (2787) DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - JUN 3, 2013
On draft at the Four Peaks tasting room (Wilson) in a snifter. Pours a nice solid orange with a one-finger off-white head and extremely sticky lacing. Sweet malty aroma with some citrus and slight brandy. Very sticky resin forward with a big piney hop kick followed by caramel and some toffee. The overall flavor is a bit oxidized and mellowed. Tacky mouthfeel with a bitter finish. The booze is barely noticeable. Nice barleywine. chinchill (4993) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 3, 2013
on tap the Four Peaks.
Crystal clear golden color with a small off-white head.
Great and complex aroma with hints of brandy, vanilla and light fruits.
Taste is refined, mild yet complex. Very easy drinking for over 11%.
Medium-light body; Remarkably smooth and mellow for this high ABV
