This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

Canít believe I havenít reviewed this one yet....Itís a stape in my beer repertoire...when itís on sale that is...One of two beers locally produced and sold in the grocery by the sixer. Who knowís what it looks like..itís a session DRINKING beer...however, it is NOT a scottish ale in my opinion, but a cross between a brown ale and an pale ale maybe......still a GREAT choice!

On tap at an Irish Pub near PHX convention center. Poured a beautiful amber/brown with nice head that stuck around. Aroma was sweet with almost no smoke. Taste was very nice with just enough subtle bitterness to offset being too sweet. This is a pretty good brew.

riversideAK (6260) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 2, 2007
Pours dark gold with a thin long lasting head. Aroma is smokey malts, caramel, and toffee. Flavor is pretty sweet with dominant notes of caramel and toffee as well as some smoke in the finish. Pretty decent malt forward session beverage.

On draft in Pheonix. Has a nice amber body with an ample off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Tastes nice and sweet with enough hop bitterness to keep it from being cloying.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2007 12oz via trade. (Thanks hellbilly!) ok, so she pours a clear brown with a huge chunky/bubbly beige head. Nose is soapy and nutty. Taste is grassy, vegetal, nutty, on top of a decent malt base. Body is light/medium. Carbonation is moderate.....this is a decent fall..rake-some-leaves-but-don-t think about it toooooo much-type beer..

Not bad for the style. Medium body with all the typical flavors (light on smoke). Iíd drink it again.

Bottle thanks to hellbilly: Pours an amber color with 1 finger white head. Aroma is very malty and has notes of vinous dark fruits. Flavor is primarily malty with lots of carmel and toffee notes with a medium body. You can also detect some of those dark fruits as well. Definitely some raisan and prune notes. No detectable hops or bitterness but finishes without too much sweetness. Very much to style.
