Served from 12-oz bottle at Morton’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale, AZ. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a thick lumpy off-white head that has some excellent lacing and retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malt, some apple skin, and a touch of smoked peat. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of some grainy caramel malt, a touch of apple and some honey. Finish is slightly metallic with the slightly high alcohol but has a sweet caramel aftertaste that linger around after the finish. performula (148) - Heart of the Rockies, Colorado, USA - DEC 9, 2007
Received this off Bockyhorsey. Deep amber color with a small fizzy head. Malty with a sweet taste. The smoke flavor is detectable, but barely. Slight bitterness. Enjoyable. kramer (6905) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 5, 2007
Growler, via BA NitroGen. Pours a rusty brown body, clear, with a fizzy one finger off-white head that faded to a thin film. Some spotty lacing. Nose is slightly sweet with lots of crystal and toasted malt, slightly grainy cereal notes, minimal hops, and a touch of honey. Flavor is grainy and slightly sweet with a smack of honey on the finish. Pretty simple and straightforward. Some crystal malt iced tea notes throughout. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with some risidual sugar stickiness. Moderate soft fizzy carbonation. Overall, this was drinkable, but it really lacked depth. kyzr (1596) - Montana, USA - NOV 26, 2007
Thaks to riversideAK for the bottle. Amber pour with a small brownish head. Light hint of smoke on the nose. Flavor is some roast, light smoke and carmalized sugar. Very smooth and easy drinker for a 6% ale. DietPepsican (1589) - @ $13.99, Iowa, USA - NOV 24, 2007
Thanks to Bockyhorsey for this one! pours amber with litte head. Smells slightly of smoke and malts, with a hint of the Mississippi river. Tastes like bread, not much else. Pretty watery with little carbonation. An odd one.

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this one yet....It’s a stape in my beer repertoire...when it’s on sale that is...One of two beers locally produced and sold in the grocery by the sixer. Who know’s what it looks like..it’s a session DRINKING beer...however, it is NOT a scottish ale in my opinion, but a cross between a brown ale and an pale ale maybe......still a GREAT choice! tomhenderson (166) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 18, 2007
On tap at an Irish Pub near PHX convention center. Poured a beautiful amber/brown with nice head that stuck around. Aroma was sweet with almost no smoke. Taste was very nice with just enough subtle bitterness to offset being too sweet. This is a pretty good brew. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - NOV 2, 2007
Pours dark gold with a thin long lasting head. Aroma is smokey malts, caramel, and toffee. Flavor is pretty sweet with dominant notes of caramel and toffee as well as some smoke in the finish. Pretty decent malt forward session beverage. charcot25 (181) - Cordova, Tennessee, USA - OCT 28, 2007
On draft in Pheonix. Has a nice amber body with an ample off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Tastes nice and sweet with enough hop bitterness to keep it from being cloying. hopdog (13102) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 27, 2007
12oz bottle acquired in a couple of trades. Poured a deep and hazy orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, roast, nuts, and toffee. Tastes of caramel, toffee, and roast. Thin and weak body.
