This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

Bottle. Nose-apple juice, twigs, leafs, tea. Body-medium brown with a thick ring of bubbles and an island of filmy bubbles. Taste-camphor, tea, some muted sweetish hops, very enjoyable. I can’t quite articulate what is so good abut this beer, but I like it!

cmacklin (1179) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 13, 2017
On tap. Pours a clear amber-brown with a medium, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malt and hops. Sweet flavour of caramel malt and a hint of dark fruit with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Simple, but ok.

Pounder can from Westgate Hotel shop. Dark-ish amber, frothy head fades fast to ring. Aroma is sweet, candy sugar and toffee. Where is the earthy, peaty notes? Taste too is very sweet, root beer barrels, toffee and candy sugar. None of the malts come through. I know its an AB Inbev joint, but still, I expected better.

bdleedahl (437) - , Saskatchewan, CANADA - APR 17, 2017
This beer is far too thin and low on body for a scottish ale at 6%. Not a lot of "scotch" taste to it either. However, it is cleanly made. Taste & tap SD.

wombat23 (1427) - Texas, USA - APR 1, 2017
Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Malty aroma. Taste is malt, caramel, spice, yeast, some fruitiness. Really kind of a mess - flavors all over the place. Flavor is not particularly pleasant. Did not finish.

darbeer75 (904) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - MAR 30, 2017
Aroma: cloyingly sweet, like orange candy; Appearance: muddy amber pour with thin white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: follows nose, unfortunately; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: not good.

sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 24, 2017
Tap. Pours mostly clear dark copper. Aroma is very faint with some caramel and bready malts, light toast, and leather. Flavor is bland and malty with lots of caramel sweetness and faint dark fruit notes. Medium/full body.

snoworsummer (5698) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 24, 2017
