A true English Indian Pale Ale. Our Raj IPA is created with a medium body and finishes dry and bitter – possibly even more so than your Uncle Sal after you broke his window when you were eleven. Our English IPA has an intense hop flavor and high hop bitterness. The lofty hop level was originally required so the ale would stay preserved and survive the voyage around Africa during the English occupation of India in the 18th century.

Medium, clear gold, filmy white head. Very nice candied gel aroma - sweet. Very smooth, decent hops, but not agressive. Some seedy/cereal tones. Sessionable. On tap, brewpub.

A very average IPA in terms of aroma, bitterness and flavor. However, sometimes you just want an IPA, that isn’t anything else and this would do it. Overall, I liked it.

On tap in Phoenix, AZ.
Four Peaks Raj IPA is sparkling clear amber in color, with a moderate white head and lacing.

Mildly hoppy Citrus nose with bready malt.more like a pale ale.
Barely Pale Ale bitterness.

Medium body with medium+ carbonation. Rather crisp and lively, every for an ipa.

O: Very drinkable, lightly hopped English/American IPA.

Type: Draft
Glass: Pint glass
From: Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe, Ariz.
Price: $5.00 (guessing)
Purchased: May 16, 2013
Consumed: May 16, 2013
Misc.: N/A

Poured a reddish, honey amber color with 1-2 fingers of white head when I got it. Good lacing on the sides and good retention all the way down.

Smelled a weird mix of hops and malts. Resin, grass and herb hops, honey, caramel and roasty malts.

Taste wasn’t anything to be desired. Roasty caramel malts, grass and resin hops and maybe even a bit of rye. Long lasting bitterness on the tongue after.

Medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish.

I wasn’t too much of a fan of this one. The hop/malt balance didn’t quite work.

Tap @ Four Peaks Tempe. Pours a copper orange appearance with an off white head. Spicy, sweet grapefruity hoppy, light caramel aroma. Fairly citrusy, well balanced, moderately sweet flavor. Solid.

Draft @ Four Peaks. Clear deep amber with a very dense off white head. Mild aroma of flowers, spicy herbs, caramel, dough and citrus. Flavor of doughy malt with a fairly strong hop bitterness, light alcohol warming. Medium body with average carbonation. Not bad but prefer the Hop Knot over this one.

Had this on draft at four peaks brewpub. Orange pour. Fluffy sticky head. Very hoppy but smooth. Floral and citrus. Earthy. Love it. Better than ratings give it
