Very dark brown pour, khaki head. Flavors of cherries, red wine, roasted malt and cocoa powder. bigbeersrule (115) - USA - APR 23, 2013
Not much of a baltic porter lager character, more like a robust porter. Had a little bit of oakiness and plenty of fruit flavor. Too much fruit for my palate. Color was black, no head. dcschiller (2211) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 21, 2013
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2013 Pours near black with a khaki head. Aroma is carlo rossi red wine, chocolate, and becomes more neutral vinous with some time. Taste is sweet with a strong fruity wine flavors. Slick with some fizziness on the tongue. Ok, but not as good as I hoped. Still, I’m glad to see Four Peaks do something like this. DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Sample at the Arizona Strong Beer Fest. Pours a dark, obscured brown. Heavy vinous nose with dark cherries and a sour tang throughout. Sour cherries and dry roasted malt are prominent in the flavor along with some tannins and a hint of burnt plastic. Astringent mouthfeel with a dry finish. I really liked the base Baltic Porter when it was the Winter Wobbler a few ago ago, but the time in the barrel didn’t quite elevate it to the heights I expected. Solid brew, but not fantastic. Sampled @ AZ Strong Beer Fest. Dark mahogany pour with onyx and squid ink at its core. Mocha head. Lots of fudge, brownie batter, molasses, and Ghirardelli chocolate showing through with the bright Bing cherry addition. Can taste the tart skin, sweet flesh, and bitter seeds in this one. Decadent, distinct, delicious!
