12oz can in Cleveland. Clear red brown with tan head. Light chocolate vanilla dark malts. superspak (5887) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - DEC 2, 2016
12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 3/17/2017. Pours crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/coffee, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/coffee, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/coffee, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and minimal astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very nice American style vanilla porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Just a bit too bitter/drying than I would have preferred; this still has really great malt complexity and balance with the vanilla bean flavors. A very enjoyable offering. crossovert (13742) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 5, 2016
355ml can. Good caramel coffee vanilla notes, all aroudn nice porter, gets better as it warms. JBPortland (1557) - Hampton Roads, Virginia, USA - APR 22, 2016
12oz can pours dark brown with light edges and a finger of head. Nose is sweet vanilla cream, syrup, chocolate, nutty. Taste is a bit thin and also has a somewhat syrupy slick sweetness of vanilla extract and hershey chocolate syrup. Not much roasty body from the porter aspect. Finishes nutty, milk, artificial coffee sweetener, not harmonious, a bit much. shigadeyo (3766) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 29, 2016
3/24/2016: Roasted malts and slightly dry, more bitterness and less vanilla when it’s cold, but those reverse as the beer warms; fairly solid porter overall, but probably needs a touch more vanilla as it gets lost in the cocoa and other robust characteristics of the beer. 12 fl oz can from yudp.

Sample from package, at Maury’s Tiny Cove beer tasting. Dark brown color. Ring of off-white head. Up front, some chocolate, vanilla, mild roast, hint of coffee. Moderate-plus sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Lighter, crisp carbonation. Medium to bigger body. Sort of slick texture, leading to a dry finish. Some caramel. Decent vanilla porter. Mildly watery. drsordr (2798) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - FEB 6, 2016
Can pour opaque dark brown with rapidly dissipating tan head. Nose sweet caramel, light vanilla. Taste vanilla, caramel, mild roast as it warms. Thinner mouth feel. Not bad, no off putting flavors, but not outstanding either. JStax (7129) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JAN 14, 2016
12 ounce can poured into a shaker pint. The beer is a clear dark brown with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has vanilla, a fruity chocolate, some ash, and a mild caramel note. The taste has mostly sweetness with a bite of bitterness in the finish. Medium body and higher carbonation than I would expect in a porter. Drjohnrock (831) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 2, 2016
Draft sampler at BIERmarkt USA on January 2, 2016..Almost opaque brown hue, nice malty/vanilla nose, solid vanilla/roasted malt taste. Another fine brew from Four String. rondphoto (4490) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - DEC 22, 2015
can @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark mahogany brown color, thick beige head that slowly drops to a thin cover, wide lace bands. Aroma of malt with vanilla. Taste is lightly toasted malt with vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate. It moves through the swallow to an edgy finish that has a tiny shot of hops (translated, that means no change and no complexity). Overall, a decent brew, but similar to the other Four String offerings.
