A tasty beer. The aroma is that of rye bread, but the flavor blends well with the hops. Its sweetest is noticeable but not overbearing.

Rating #2445 - 2016.04.12 - On tap at 4 Winds. This was a deep amber coloured pour with a mild tan foam that faded to a ring. Nose was toffee, lemon. Mild alcohol warmth and carbonation. Taste is a mild peppery smokiness from the rye grain, mild toffee and caramel malt sweetness, but a boatload of hop punches, citrusy, grassy. Finishes smooth, nice bitterness. Phenomenal rye brew.

32oz bottle pours a golden color with a bit of white head. Deliciously balanced Belgian yeast and hops. A little fruity. Rye spice lingers at the end.

Bottle shared by "hannont". Colour...cloudy golden amber with a thick head. Nose...fruity, funky and yeasty with stone fruits and citrus zest. Palate...dry, tight, focuses and brimming with orange seeds and white grape pips. The mid palate is tart and gripping and the finish offers the same but with tangerine skins and quince.

My Bottom Line:
Grapefruit, rye, flowers, lemongrass and conifers whirl about in this highly intoxicating IPA-like brew.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy pale amber.
-All flavors are beautifully harmonious.
-Drinkability is very high.
-Bitterness is herbal, spicy and resinous.
-This is mighty impressive from a brewery I had never heard of. Shame on me,

Bottle.

Hazy orange, huge, frothy, sticky, white head. Tropical fruit, lots of yeast, subtle spice, and citrus zest. Sticky, highly hopped, slightly oily mouth feel, with a solid carb. The finish has a medium bitterness, soft spice and some lightly soapy, zesty, fruity esters in the end. Quite nice.

Bottle from Spring 2016 CANBIF labelled as "Belgian"- thanks Derek. Opaque coppery amber with an off white creamy head that fades to a nice film. Once things warm up a bit and things open up its a nice floral snouff with some light rye, white pepper, light resin with some orange and yeast, bit of coriander. Moderate body and full carbonation, smooth, nice bitterness that grows as things dry out on the finish. Nice touch of booze and dried citrus on the finish too.

650 ml bottle from Canada Craft club. Aroma: that usual citra aroma of well... You know what but also citrus, pineapples well mixed with spices from fresh rye so we dont smell that much of cat pee. Oops I said it. App: hazy orange copperish, small white head leaving some little lacing and great retention. Taste and palate: medium body, great mouthfeel with this usual rye texture rye that gives to a beer, a tad velvety, clean bitter finish. Overall: honestly I had Sip of Sunshine before this one and I thought this one would feel like a disaster after such masterpiece. Its way different, dont get me wrong but it got my full attention really fast. Its really well made. Rye has a great presence but not too much. Yes I wished it would have been more fruity but I this is the goal behind this one. Its too make a rye ipa the Belgian style and I think they succeeded. So I cant compare this well-made beer with a fruity bomb like SOS. Do I like it? Yes. Do I love it? No. But its really well made and deserves this rating. Just the fact that it wasnt ousted that much by SOS is a pretty great sign its good.
