Tap @ London w friends/Silverfox and mr & mrs Don. Appearance: pours clear red-brown with good off-white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, bread, nuts, earthy/leather notes, chocolate and some citrus notes. palette: strong somewhat roasted malty aroma, average carbonation, medium body, medium to notable sweetness, balanced by a medium bitterness, average duration and an oily texture. Overall: tasteful brown ale

Keg arbitrager. Clovey and a little bit cola like. Fizzy. Tasty but a bit treacly. Ok.

On tap at Pint Shop, Oxford. Pours a dark brownish black with a tan head. Aroma: roasted malt, licorice, mild aniseed, very mild citrus, grain notes. Taste: toasted grain, mild licorice and aniseed, burnt toast, mild raisin and very mild citrus, earthy flavours. Thin to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Moderate bitterness that dominates the palate. Easy to drink but a bit unbalanced. Still quit enjoyable though

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2018 Can from Tramline Liquors on the way back from Mount Davis hike. Had with warm roasted dinner. Light cola brown pour - lighter than coke - with fine thin frothy head. Aroma is bright fizzy citric hops - not that strong but nice - and soft coffee malt. Taste is light sort of like a mild English black IPA, the coffee malt balances the citric hoppiness nicely. Really tasty for what it is - complex but smooth and easy drinking. Would get again - especially for HK$35.

Dark brown, large bubbly head quickly receding to thin. Decent amount of hops, more reminiscent of a porter or stout than brown ale to me - vanilla in there combined with the thick mouthfeel. Pretty nice, if a bit odd.

Day 23 of the Honest Brew Advent Calendar. 330ml can, filtered. Decent malt, and not too many hops, though they incline to the lemon scented rather than the earthy, so they pull it slightly in the wrong direction for me. I like the malts, though. OK.

Can from flavourly and this is at 5%. Deep brown caramel colour with a light tan head. Citrus and chocolate aroma and taste. Full rich body.

Can from Flavourly. I'm not generally a fan of this style - too often it tastes like badly burnt toast. But this is decent. Deep dark brown with lacy head. Good roasted and toasted malt aroma. Good balance of pepper, dry roast and charred malt. A little sweetness in the back that stops it being just dry and more dry. Good.
