Can, 330ml from Warwick Real Ale, Warwick. Reddish brown with pillowy cream head. There is a crisp bitterness to this with a fruity hopped note, some chocolate roasted malty notes, some floral hints. Pleasantly fuller palate. Decent beer.

Can growler from the brewery. Dark brown beer with some clarity, very small off white to tan head. Nose is nutty, black coffee, brown sugar, dark chocolate. A very rich new world brown ale which is well on its way to bring a porter. Taste is very light black coffee, caramel, little dark chocolate, slight hoppiness, minerals, brown sugar.

Can from Beer52. Deep chestnut with a middling beige head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Creamy chocolate on tasting swiftly followed by a hefty pine bitterness- maybe closer to a black IPA than a brown ale? It’s got a powdery texture and the fizz is aggressively prickly. By the end the piney bitter hops feel a little overdone for the beer and a burnt note has started to emerge. Despite liking it at first it’s pretty unbalanced and I went off it a bit as I drank more. Still ok though.
