Deep amber color and caramel flavor from a rich blend of specialty malts dominate the spice of Pacific Northwest hops in this sweet, malty mixture.

Brown Coloring. Small Head. Wonderful Malt Taste in This One. Some Plum or Raisin Here...Sweet. Not Much Alcohol, but One of the Better Offerings from This Brewery.

Dark brown color, small off white head that faded quickly but left a ver small amount of lace.Malty caramel aroma lightly roasty with maybe a hint of hops coming through.malty taste with a decent caramel flavor but still a bit thin. The alcohol is mild at best with just a faint hop presence.Yes it is somewhat sweet with a burnt like quality coming through as well.Over all it's pretty good and definately better then the 2 previous brews i've had from them.Well worth trying again and i's have to say that this brew would make a decent summer drinker. Thanks to Joeybgood for sending this brew.

Pours deep amber/burgundy. Aroma of malt, cognac, and toffee. Finishes malty with hops and smoky sweetness.

Cask, RAF Chicago, 2004: Translucent red plum - fairly still with small white bubbles. Malted, alcoholic plum aroma, with some neat grassy notes that join well with the deep peatiness. Crisp, refreshing palate - clean fresh pears and deep orange (non-tart) plum flesh. Though the finish is lacking an interesting catch, the wonderful fruity flavours make an enjoyable experience.

muzzlehatch (4970) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Draft sample, July 03. Medium red, clear, no head; light butterscotch/earthy aroma, not much goin on so I was pleasantly surprised by the powerful brown sugar/anise sweet spicy flavors. Ending is a bit thin, alas my hopes were rising for this one! Still, not a bad choice if passing through Oshkosh.

kmeves (1098) - Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 14, 2002
Head is very small. Color is a deep amber. Flavor is sweet and "grainy". Hops come out in the finish.

A polite and pleasant Scottish ale that nonetheless lacks something in memorability.

ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JUL 10, 2002
Attractive, mahogany color. Sweet and noticeably malty. I expected a stronger alcohol flavor, though that is more characteristic of a Scotch Ale than a Scottish Ale. A good offering for less seasoned beer palates that nevertheless require some body in their suds.

First beer I had at 21. Pretty good........................................
