Dark amber to light copper in color. Diminished head, to just a few small bubbles adrift atop. Caramel with a touch of toasted sourdough bread in the aromas. Thin and a bit tinny in feel. Thin flavors as well with some toasted malt and some roasted pecans. Some acidity and bitterness really shows up in the finish and linger. A pecan pith linger that the next swallow does not assuage like the next pecan might. 4/10

The Dan Journal #339. Tasted 3/28/10. 12oz bottle. Filtered with a dark amber hue. Brainy bone white head. Aromas of caramel and soggy breads. Earthy and grassy. Medium bodied with a big bready malt character. Bold effervescence and a nice dry finish. All malt dominant with a dry nutty note. Nice.

On tap at Fratello’s – Oshkosh. Poured clear lighter amber with a creamy beige head. The aroma was very nutty with some caramel support.. dusty, dirty, and grainy.. OK for the style. The flavor found sweet, toasted caramel and nutty notes with light earthy bitterness and dusty yeast around.. almost a touch of smoke accenting. Lighter-bodied, dusty, and very dry on the palate.. decent flow.. this was aiight.

Pours a light reddish brown with almost no head. Aroma is malt and chocolate. Nice flavor profile of malt, chocolate, ovaltine and nuts. Nice viscosity and fairly creamy on the palate. finish is crisp but not overly hoppy. Nice with pretzels, popcorn or Wisconsin’s ubiquitous brat.

On draught at the Oshkosh brewpub location. Pours a clear dark amber brew with a creamy off-white head that has some spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted caramel malt, roasted nuts, flowery hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of powdered yeast, toasted caramel malt and a touch of chocolate. Finish has a slight chalky malt flavor, semi-sweet with a hint of chocolate in the aftertaste.

12 oz bottle from Appleton location. Nutty and malty aroma. Brown body with red tynt. Flavor was somewhat watery at first. As beer warmed got a medium nut, caramel and crystalization flavor. Smooth and easy drinkable beer. Lisa’s favorite so glad they had it to fill my sixer on the way out the door.
