Golden-brown. Thin head. Has the aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel and some caramelly malts. Orangey, spicy with clove oils on the palate. A little bit of fruitcake with some darker, toffeeish malts. I find this very nicely balanced, a good spiced ale. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 9, 2011
Draft @ brewpub. Red, warm cinnamon color. Bright spicy aroma. Cinnamon, clove especially. Clove oil lingers on the tongue as if the beer is trying to cure a toothache. Leaves a dry, astringent finish. Very nice, my favorite of the Franciscan Wells so far. garthicus (2937) - Dublin, IRELAND - JAN 22, 2011
On tap @ Bull & Castle. Appearance. Deep dark brown. Thick cream head. Aroma: mild cinnamon, hops, cloves, Christmasy! Flavour: pudding, cherry, brandy, quite tangy dark fruit. Long spicy finish. mayordenis (18) - USA - MAY 21, 2009
Thick and Heavy, Incredibly Spicy, slight hints of sweetness then the spice comes back, In the thickness of winter this would appeal to many. Unfortunately not to my Tastes. cellar (508) - Dublin, IRELAND - DEC 24, 2008
Dark unclear reddish brown w tiny creamy head. Malty aroma of dark fruit and caramel. Strong notes of spices develops in mouth. Sweet flavour. Finish reminds me of Gammel Dansk or cough medicine.
