Black beer with consistent lacing and very little carbonation. I know others tasted chocolate and coffee, but I got a smokey wood flavor throughout. The body was light with almost no aftertaste or bitterness. It lacked a little depth, but I would definitely drink this again for that smokey flavor. Nose of toasted malts with nutty notes. A rapidly diminishing tan head rests on a ruddy brown pour producing ringed lacing as the beer disappears. Chocolate, lightly roasted malts, and nuts constitute the flavor. While hops are present, this is definitely a malt forward brew. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel initially with a bit of fizz at the end. Overall, I liked this beer. It has a very nice mildly roasted malt quality and is well balanced and vey consumable. 12 ounce bottle. Pours reddish brown with a nice tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, and some coffee. Taste is malt, chocolate, caramel, and coffee. A bit thin, but very drinkable. jkwalking05 (4740) - Arlington, Texas, USA - OCT 5, 2013
12oz bottle. Deep brown with an average sized beige head. Aroma is of light roasted malt, chocolate, and toffee. Taste is of cocoa, toast, toffee, malts, and pecan shells. TChrome (1472) - North Richland Hills, Texas, USA - SEP 24, 2013
Another example of the potential of lager beer. Beer pours medium brown color with a minimal off white head that mostly dissipates. Aroma is nutty, roast, and chocolate. Taste is sweet with minimal bitterness in the finish. Quite enjoyable, IMO. Prost!

Poured out of a 12Oz Bottle. Has a dark brown color and really no head whatsoever. I smell caramel and some coffee notes. I taste some of what I smelled, also some chocolate and malt. It’s ok at best. rosenbergh (11532) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 17, 2013

Dark reddish brown colour with a small tan head.
The aroma is roasted malt, mild coffee, dark chocolate and mild bitterness.
The flavour is almost milky stout like. Roasted malt, mild milky sweetness, mild coffee, dark chocolate and some mild balancing hops. Very balanced and tasty.
Pours dark brown almost black with a thin tan head. Light roasted barley aroma. Fair amount of carbonation with a light body. Clean finish with some malt. SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - AUG 23, 2013
Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Smells mildly roasty. Taste is mildly roasty with some mild chocolate notes, like a brown ale. Light-bodied with a wet texture and active mouth-carbonation, Franconia Dunkel finishes with a mild coffee-like bitterness. Foxbush (2029) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - AUG 20, 2013
Draft This was enjoyed at the Whiskey and Rye at the Omni in Ft Worth. The dunkel poured a dark brown color with tan foamy head and some lacing. You taste the burnt malt with a slight sweetness. The dark lager had average carbonation. Medium body and a decent beer to drink. The finish was smooth with some sweetness.
