A German "Dunkel" (dark) brewed as a Lager with Two Row Malt, Munich Malt and some Roasted Malts. Spiced up with German Hops from the Hallertau and a German Lager Yeast gives this Brew a nice dunkel (dark) color and some Malt sweetness with a nice finish of balanced Hops and a little chocolaty taste for the finish.

12oz bottle. Deep brown with an average sized beige head. Aroma is of light roasted malt, chocolate, and toffee. Taste is of cocoa, toast, toffee, malts, and pecan shells.

Another example of the potential of lager beer. Beer pours medium brown color with a minimal off white head that mostly dissipates. Aroma is nutty, roast, and chocolate. Taste is sweet with minimal bitterness in the finish. Quite enjoyable, IMO. Prost!

Poured out of a 12Oz Bottle. Has a dark brown color and really no head whatsoever. I smell caramel and some coffee notes. I taste some of what I smelled, also some chocolate and malt. It’s ok at best.

12 oz bottle. From Rosebud butternuts. A big thank you to Eric!
Dark reddish brown colour with a small tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, mild coffee, dark chocolate and mild bitterness. The flavour is almost milky stout like. Roasted malt, mild milky sweetness, mild coffee, dark chocolate and some mild balancing hops. Very balanced and tasty.

Pours dark brown almost black with a thin tan head. Light roasted barley aroma. Fair amount of carbonation with a light body. Clean finish with some malt.

Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Smells mildly roasty. Taste is mildly roasty with some mild chocolate notes, like a brown ale. Light-bodied with a wet texture and active mouth-carbonation, Franconia Dunkel finishes with a mild coffee-like bitterness.

Draft This was enjoyed at the Whiskey and Rye at the Omni in Ft Worth. The dunkel poured a dark brown color with tan foamy head and some lacing. You taste the burnt malt with a slight sweetness. The dark lager had average carbonation. Medium body and a decent beer to drink. The finish was smooth with some sweetness.

Good-looking pour: dark brown body summons healthy tan head & sticky lace. Toasty chocolate malt aroma initially, but oxidation swerves in at the end to spoil the fun.

Taste is metallic, fizzy, and bland. No roasted malt, wheaty sweetness, or other standard flavors. I'd never guess this was a Dunkel by taste alone; you can really taste the disappointment. Body is equally off: highly carbed and light- to medium-bodied.

As a generic beer, this is mediocre to bad. And as a Dunkel, this is epicfail.jpg.

Smells a little bit like saltwater and oysters, sea house type of beach shack aroma. Beautiful dark brown color, almost no lacing. This girl is a very complex variety of flavors....almost a nut brown finish to it, I personally prefer the Sam Adams Dunkel to it.

Pours dark brown with small tan head out of bottle. Strong caramel and coffee notes. Roasted coffee flavor with a hint of malt and caramel. Great beer from a great brewery! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
