(Draught) clear dark brown, light tan head that fades. Nose of light cocoa, light English hops, nutty and honey. Taste of roasty nuts, cocoa, some dried dark fruit, nice sweet finish. Easy drinking. Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - OCT 24, 2012
Dallas Untapped. Darker pour with a tan head. Aroma is a little smoke, chocolate, and grain. Taste is almost beefy, chocolate, and a little blackened toast. ilovedarkbeer (2737) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - OCT 13, 2012
Black pilsner? Weird. Burnt popcorn notes with some brown sugar. Earthy chocolate hops too. Foamy mouthfeel. Not into it. Dixonian (1562) - Plano, Texas, USA - SEP 16, 2012

On tap at Square Burger.
The beer pours a dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma has a ton of toffee and nutty notes, with some wheat notes also thrown in. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of cocoa and grass notes, as well as some sweet toffee and caramel. There is a lot of sweet malt character, which goes well with the other notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. colinize (317) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Pours nearly black, not much head. Not much aroma. Light toasted coffee and brown sugar. Kind of porter like.

On tap. Pours an excellent deep, dark brown/black with ruby hues and rich, tan head. Aroma is very balanced with notes of dark roasted grain, chocolate and earthy hop, very nice. Flavor is very much the same with a well balanced dark roasted grain and hop bitter in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, this is a very special surprise from Franconia and I look forward to future treats.
