This is our biggest Beer yet. Franconia Tripple Dunkel. Well is it a "German Belgian" or a "Belgian German" We will leave this to your own opinion. Fact is this is the last of our 5 limited releases and it is brewed after our original Dunk...el but we pumped the percentage up to bring it to a Tripple. We fermented with a traditional Belgian yeast and brewed it still to the German puritan law. So we did not use any sugars, syrups or fruit additions. It came back from the lab with 10.35% vol and is scheduled to hit the market mid May. It will be draft only and very limited supply. Cheers!

From bottle, courtesy of Jon. Rich malt aroma with coffee, cafe, chocolate, molasses. Malty and rich. Very little hop aroma. Dark brown opaque with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Sweet start and stays sweet with molasses and brown sugar. A bit to sweet for my liking, however. Roasty finish and lingering sweet after.

Aroma - caramelized sugars, alcohol, and spice.
Appearance - the body is black with a 2+" fallow brown head. The head slowly settles. Some alcohol cloying that pulls suds along.
Taste - sweet caramelized sugar, Belgian yeast, bourbon like alcohol, some wood and spice.
Palate - medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation, an alcohol finish that is just slightly astringent, and body warming.

Bottle:   Dark cola in color, spritzy beige head, dies quickly leaving no lacing.   Dark bready nose, malty, some minor dark pitted fruit.   Sweet on the tongue, bready, not as dark as the nose suggested, with a little bit of that dark pitted fruitiness bringing up the backside.   Hard to believe this is over 10%!   Fairly smooth on the tongue.   Backside has a chocolate covered cherry aspect that comes out as it warms, which is very welcomed.   Very interesting beer.   Has that dark breadiness on the nose, but its sweeter and not as dark on the tongue.   Has more of a chocolate and cherry sweetness.   Smooth mouthfeel.   This one was rather nice.   I could drink more of this.   Thanks Bill!

jet black, thin coffee head. Nose is dark roasted malt. Bittersweet. Middle is chalk, mild coco, dark malt. Finish shows some alcohol and medium bitterness.

Patrickctenchi (6750) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - JUN 12, 2015
Pours black with a huge, whipped, dark tan head.
Fudge, mild licorice, nutty aroma.
Taste is sweet, rich, dark chocolate malt.....prune, molasses...
Thick, rich, malty...with a well-mannered alcohol presence...smooth.
Great stuff.

Mostly chocolate malts upfront on the aroma, some dark fruits are trying to creep in. Deep brown body, almost black, the head receded quickly and is leaving some spotty lace. Flavor of roasted malts, and faint fruits with a moderate booze punch.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown-red with a high, mixed-grain, light brown head -- and when I say high, I mean Matthew McConaughey playing bongos on the front lawn high. Nose is brown sugar, milk chocolate, phenols, star anise, and caramel. Very sweet and boozy on the front of the tongue, with strong, prominent carbonation; molasses, chocolate, spice, and vanilla is marred with a persistent alcohol heat. Finish is hot and tingly. There’s an interesting beer here, but someone needs to turn down the booze a bit.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom - McKinney. Pours a very dark red/almost black with a thin tan head. The aromas are dark fruits, currants, soy sauce and nutty. The mouthfeel is watery and sweet with a heavy body and good carbonation. Cheers!

Deep dark brown pour with a beige head. Nice lacing. Sweet nutty aroma with toast and caramel. Taste follows the nose with an added roasted finish and a little booze. Full sticky body.
