A very good dark. I wish it was available at more than just the Bavarian Inn. I guess I will have to come back more often to enjoy this dark. thedm (6319) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAY 18, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a medium head of light brown bubbles and an opaque black body. It had a malty aroma, a smooth taste and mild roasted flavor. It was a very drinkable brew. Aggie80 (829) - Michigan, USA - MAR 26, 2005
Dark dark brown with some head and nice lacing. Strong burnt coffee flavor dominates with a nice bitterness to the aftertaste. I quite enjoyed it with my chicken dinner! ClarkVV (6873) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 13, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2005 Had this on tap at The Post in Auburn Hills. Pours a flat greyish-brown with some lighter browns on the edges. Big creamy off-white head. Aroma is lightly sweet of dark maple syrup with some very dry roasty flavors that almost give it a hickory smell. Opens up with the typical smoothness of Local Color beers. Hardly any carbonation, very soft and creamy. There is a bittersweet flavor that plays on the palate from the roast. Finish is very chewy and surprisingly complex. Maple, bitter molasses, and a slightly winey sweet roast flavor. Good medium body. 2nd Local Color Brew I’ve tried, and I’m very impressed. hopson (635) - Williamsville, New York, USA - SEP 28, 2007
draft- coffee chocalte dominate this brew. Not much in the aroma department, which detracts here. I find black lagers often fall short w aroma, but the flavor was nice so I was not that bothered about it. Would try again.

Very smooth and not very carbonated. Dark with out much of head. Little roasty and a little chocolate. I liked it. JoeM500 (1909) - Crown Point, Indiana, USA - NOV 3, 2003
Cola brown with a medium sized tan head. Malty, woody aroma. Roasty and sweet with a medium body. Refreshing and much better than expected! qdog (201) - Cleveland, Mississippi, USA - DEC 9, 2004
Draught, brown with red tones, minimal white head, average lacing, slightly floral aroma, taste of coffee and caramel, bitter finish. estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - SEP 13, 2007

[602-20070909] Tap @ Cole’s (Buffalo, NY). Coffee malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a medium-lasting creamy tan head. Super coffee malt flavour with a touch of bitter roast. Full body is a little grainy. Nice coffee beer but wasn’t really in the mood.
