Draught at Cole’s, Buffalo, NY. Pours a very dark amber-brown, almost black, with a small diminishing tan head. Aroma is slightly roasty along with some chocolate, dark fruit and molasses. Flavour, which is a touch watery, consists of lightly roasted caramel malt, coffee, cocoa, a hint of hops and a light bitter finish. Average bodied, creamy mouthfeel. UPDATED: FEB 10, 2006 On tap at the Bavarian Inn Deep dark brown pour, with a creamy even tan head. Light soy and toasted oat aroma. Tinge of cofee. Moderately watery tobacco, charred oak and toast. Draft at Coles in Buffalo. Black body with a small tan head and nice lacing on the glass. (3+) Moderately roasty mocha aroma. (6+) Roasty toasty malt up front in the flavour, sweet mocha, moderate bitterness is more from the roast than any perceptible hops (6+). Average palate. Well crafted but not really up my alley. Draught. At Cole’s, Buffalo, NY. Clear ruby-black with a small off-white head. Dry roasty coffee aroma, prune and light caramel malt, maybe some vague dry hops in the mix. Dry taste too, roasted coffee beans, green peaches and dry floral hops. Light, sticky body, nice bit of astringency, weak carbonation and a very quick finish - slight bitter roasty linger. Bottle from the wine shop at Bavarian Inn. The beer pours dark brown with a thin and foamy beige head that recedes slowly. Sticky sheet of lacing on the glass. The aroma is roasty with notes of malt and chocolate. Medium body that gets progressively thinner. There is a roasty chocolate malt character with traces of hops. The finish is dry with a roasted coffee aftertaste that is short-lived. Decent overall.

bottle the aroma is of sweet malt and little hops..do get some roastiness out of it...the flavor is of the same sweet malt flavor with dark roasty malt..medium bodied beer. not great but not bad.
