Bottle… Florida Craft Beer and Wing Fest 2012… Pours a clear, deep amber with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The nose is quite faint and nearly nondescript, but I am able to pull delicate shades of caramel malt and other toasted grains from the glass. Medium-bodied and almost fatty with tickling carbonation. Well-balanced flavor – gentle components of caramel, toasted grain and some mashiness. Finishes crisp, clean and refreshing… much like every other beer in the Frankenmuth line. polomagnifico (1202) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Bottle. Aroma has huge notes of cereal malts, caramel and toast. Deep red mahogany hue with a small off-white head that mostly diminished and left little lace. Flavor is medium sweet. Palate is medium bodied and watery average. Overall a good example of the style. Nice caramel malt character and enjoyable to drink. milljam (682) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - DEC 8, 2009
Weak aroma....some hints of toasted malt and caramel, but little else. Flavor is pretty malty, with biscuit and toasted malt up front, followed by some hops and a chocolate finish. Body is thin and watery Bellsman1991 (31) - - MAY 5, 2014
The best beer to be found in my opinion at the brewery Besides Twisted Helles. I like the flavor and it’s not too dark to be enjoyed while eating the food offered at the brewery.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2013 On tap at the Shark Club in Howell. Poured a deep amberish color with a small sized head. Toasty, pine, some floralness, some caramel, and some roast. Well balanced...this should not be a Brown Ale....an Amber Ale if anything. Tmoney99 (14502) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2012
Draft sample. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable brew.

12oz bottle poured into a Samuel Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.
Appearance: A crystal clear dark amber/brown color with about two fingers worth of a somewhat creamy and bubbly head. Lacing is actually really quite nice, considering the lack of much of a head.
Smell: When I first cracked the bottle open, I got a whiff of soy sauce. That smell at least faded away. Afterwards, I didn’t get much else. A faint note of malt with a metallic smell as well. Very "blah".
Taste/feel: Quite muted, like the aroma. Pretty sweet with malts, and dark fruits or something like that. The biggest turn off for me here is what I seem to get in some beers -- a Diet Coke aftertaste. Not to say it tastes like Coke, but it has that artificial sweetener taste. Maybe some sort of fruit extract? I don’t know. Not a very interesting beer, but quite drinkable... it would be much MORE drinkable if it weren’t for that fake sugar taste. The feel on this beer is the best part about it... pretty lightly carbonated with a somewhat creamy feel.
Overall, it’s just not that great of a beer. Bad by no means, but the beer would be much better if it had more of an aroma to it, and didn’t have that odd, unnatural tasting aftertaste. sudomorph (1167) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 11, 2015
12oz bottle. Pours a clear, deep caramel with a half finger, off white head. Aroma has a great aroma of dark fruits, caramel, bread, and mild, traditional hops. Taste is balanced. Caramel, bread, hints of darker fruits, and a shadow of roast. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with an easy drinking texture. Overall a nice, easy drinking, beer with good flavours of caramel, bread, and a touch of darker fruits.
