On nitro: Pours a hazy dark copper amber with a well-lacing frothy off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel malt and fresh resiny piny hops. Starts with good fullness and rich malty sweetness balanced with a pretty assertive grapefruity hoppiness for the style before a crisp bittersweet finish. A nice and very drinkable ESB. Cask and force-carbonated tap at the brewpub. Red-brown colored. Light malt and english hops in the aroma, with a powerful honey sweetness in the cask version. The flavor is clean and relatively dry caramel malt with a firm hoppy bitterness. The cask version has a sweet honey component adding to this, along with a more grassy aromatic hop character. medium bodied, with lower carbonation in the cask, but not too low. Nitro pour at the brew pub. Came to the table a hazy, slightly translucent, orangey brown with zero head. Malty aroma, crackers and biscuit with some slight citrus hops lurking. Flavor was well balanced, sweet malts, sort of that chewy, bready, grainy flavor profile with citrus hops, oranges and lemons, coming in on the end. Crisp finish with some lasting bitterness. This beer looks phenomenal. Murky brown with an orange tint to it with a off white frothy, creamy head. Malty aroma with a hint of hops. Malty flavor, only slightly roasted but bitter at the start and finish. Full bodied and sweet as well. I really liked this.
I miss this! When I lived in DC I think this was may favorite local brew! Nice hops and a crisp finish! The malts are complex without being over the top. A well crafted ESB

On tap. Hazy, leathery light-brown pour with a very small light-tan head that leaves webs of lace. Aroma is quite faintly of nuts, sweet malts and some hops. Medium-bodied. BIG tastes to this one. Some chocolate, nuts and caramel are present along with more hops than usual for this style. The tongue-stripping, hoppy finish is quite bitter and lingers forever. Hazy crimson amberish, thin fizzy white head. Nose held notes of citrus, caramel, and hints of toffee. It certainly was well balanced with citrus hops up front and sweetened caramel malt lying just below the surface. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying fruity hop finish. Draft, refreshing aroma lot’s of hops. Taste is very sweet, a little too sweet...but has a bite to it as well, kind of like rusting lead pipes. Don’t like this one too much.
