COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our most ambitious beer to date utilized an anaerobic sour mash procedure that spanned three days to finish...ludicrous idea right? After which it was fermented with our Belgian Saison yeast at nearly 87 degrees Fahrenheit. The end result is a Sour Rye Saison that attacks you with the character of white wine and grapefruit juice.

Sampled at the brewery, pours a hazy yellow with some faint white head. Nose has apricot, lemon rind, unripened stone fruits, lime, some white wine vinegar. Flavor follows, more vinegar here, some grapefruit now, lime. An interesting wet grist note that lingers at the back. Finishes tart and dry.

Pouring at EBF 2014. Pours a clear gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Grain, musk, soft funk on the nose. Soft sweetness, funk, musk. Grain, earth. Soft sweet lemon and gently musky on the finish.

On tap 5 oz. sampler at Franklin 's Restaurant, Brewery and General Store in Hyattsville, MD. Clear, straw color with a small off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of apples, plums, white table grapes, citrus, French bread and blue cheese. Taste of sour lemon, white table grapes, plums, apple cider vinegar, citrus, bread and light fruit. Medium body and low/medium carbonization. Reminds me of a soured fruit wine--fruity, sweet, sour and boring. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

4 oz draft pour at Smoke and Barrel. Hazy lemonade yellow with off-white head. Aromas of tart fruit, lemon lime, light vinegar. Tastes of lemon lime, citrus, tart fruit, light vinegar. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Low carbonation.

This was a very sweet sour, not too much pucker. I enjoyed it but it wasnt as graceful as some of the Europeans.

Initially shows a good sour plum aroma with biretta type citrus aroma but elements dont completely come together. Pours reddish with OK head and lacing. Pretty sour on finish, with light acrid note.

Flip top bottle with Jason and Dorrie. Pours a hazy gold with thin off white head. Nose is lactic acid, lemon rinds, barn funk, some bread. I really dont pick up much rye but some bready notes. Somewhat thin body. Nice tart finish with some funk.

Tap. Thin light tan head, very murky ruby copper brown. Light cherry notes, slight acetic sour and sour wheat in the aroma. Flavor has some light balsamic, nicely tart, dark but sour cherry. Lighter body with tight carbonation. Like a sour light. Not bad.

Tap at Franklins in Hyattsville. Pours a full haze glowing straw. Weak white head. Berliner Weisse style funky bleu cheese nose with butter and thick dough plus lemon. Taste is sour lemonade. Very citric without any acedic/vinegar character. Pretty successful Berliner Weisse. Should be switched to that style. I like this one. Very simple and clean. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
