Big thanks to yourefragile for sharing this one. Served in a SAVOR wine glass.
Pours a nice dark brown verging on black with a bit of a tan head and a collar as that settles. The nose brings quite a bit of vanilla along with a bit of roasted malt. Really heavy vanilla in the flavor; some roast and chocolate in the background. Light body with a bit of a bite through the finish. Quite light, but the vanilla works. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 24, 2011
Nitro. Medium tan head that leaves nice lacing, black body with brown edge. Aroma is moderately sweet, vanilla, roast, some milk chocolate, faint Bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, vanilla, roast, some Bourbon, light milk chocolate. Light-medium body, low carbonation. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - OCT 22, 2011
On nitro tap at the brewpub: pours an oily opaque with a creamy froth of beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel and vanilla nose. Starts with good fullness and light sweetness with good vanilla complexity and velvety mouthfeel and some lactose before a dark chocolate finish. An enjoyable and very drinkable stout. lamas (1642) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 16, 2011
Nitro tap pour on 10/14/11. Showed up at the table an opaque black body with a thick & creamy mocha head. Beautiful! There wasn’t a whole lot going on aroma-wise - some roasted maltiness, sweet vanilla beans, a hint of caramel, and a whiff of lactose. Went down medium-bodied and quite smooth. Tasted like a Guinness infused with vanilla beans. There was a subtle roasted maltiness upfront followed by the slightest hint of coffee with some vanilla beans and lactose qualities underneath it all. A little more body and this really could’ve been something special.
