Pours golden and hazy with a huge head. Aroma is sour and floral. Flavor is nicely malty with hints of wheat. Finish is mild. Enjoyable hefewizen.

Hate the gold, flaky wrapping. Love the high quality beer. Probably like other beers (not sure) glad this is brewed in strict adherence to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Cloudy, citrusy - not strong at all. Very, very easy to drink. A bit too carbonated for me.

A classic hefeweizen. Dirty, yeasty and with banana and cloves apperant in both taste and aroma. It’s quite light in the wheat appartement, though.
It’s a really nice beer, but does in no way compare to the really great hefeweizens. A llittle too unexciting and mainstream...

On a hot day, I can’t think of a better beer. In recent years, I’ve had a hard time trying to find a great hefeweizen. It seems like a lot of the craft brewers are making wheat beers with regular ale yeast. They end up making a flavorless beer. Franziskaner is a very flavorful beer with lots of banana and ester flavors. This is a great beer.

500ml - I was expecting the typical big glass o’banana and that strange glowing yellow liquid, but that was not the case here. there was still some turbidity, but this was a hefe you could see through. It also had a malty fullness you don’t find in the Summer weight hefes out there. Still had the hefe spicy notes, and you could tell it was a wheat. It was a fuller wheat.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2007 Delicious citrus, banana, and vanilla aroma. Deep cloudy golden color. Large head which dissipates regularly. Heavy sweetness with a light/medium body, and slick texture. A very fruity wheat beer, but good nontheless. I will definitly be buying more of this.

On tap at the Germany pavillion in Epcot. I was a little hesitant to try this beer because of the style. At the same time I haven’t tried many in the style so what the heck. Pours a cloudy orange color with a nice white head on top. Aroma is full of fruit, clove, wheat, and spice. Flavor is full of malts with a nice banana flavor lingering. A nice refreshing beer on a warm Florida afternoon. This beer wants me to try other beers in the style category.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2007 Bottle pours hazy gold. Almost fruity aroma. Very sweet, finish is good, but not remarkable. Overall, not a bad beer, but not great.

Bottle. Cloudy orange. Lighter head than expected for a wheat beer. Lovely banana/citrus aroma and flavor. Fizzy but normal for this type. Banana cream flavors, more sweet than bitter. Spaten’s hefe-weizen entry is excellent. Would be a wonderful session beer any time of the year (thoroughly enjoyed mine in the dead of winter).
