UPDATED: JUN 21, 2011 Bottle. A hazy/cloudy medium to dark blonde beer. with a huge, frothy/fizzy, fully lasting white head. The aroma is moderately malty and lightly yeasty, with notes of bread, lemon, clove, with a hint of pear and bubblegum. The flavour is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, average length finish with light bitterness. Rather nice for being a commercial beer, having a good, fruity nose and rather balanced. I still enjoy it from time to time.

I thought this was a great hefe. On tap at Flying Saucer in San Antonio. Yeasty flavor, lots of banana, nice thick head. What’s not to love?

Great Hefe. Well balanced - not too citrusy. I loved the head which stayed around a while. I will definitely try this one again. I had it on draft, but pretty sure I can get it bottled as well.

Great looking beer that smells really fresh and crisp. Tasted the same, fresh bubblegum flavours all throughout with a nice whack of wheat to finish with on the aftertaste.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2007 Smells spicy and yeasty. pours a cloudy yellowish orange with a frothy white head that sticks around for a bit with some nice thick lacing. After it warms a bit it tastes very fruity with lots of banana and clove. Noticable carbonation without being too watery. A nice easy drinker without being too wimpy. I’m new to the style (only have had this and Widmer) and after having it again I can really appreciate its refreshing crispness. great after a hard day’s work in the summer heat!

Moderate grain and light yeast aroma. Thinkish head and very cloudy. Taste is lest than you think from the aroma. Finishs with spicy flavor, allspice, coriander? Pleasing fizzy mouth feel.

Bottle. Poured a murky unfiltered color. Aroma is citrus like a belgian strong. Taste is sweet with a hop and malt finish.

Compared to other hefeweizens, this beer floats toward the top of the list. The only knock is that after three or four, your palate is shot and the beer begins to taste sour. I’ve noticed this many times.

Copper translucent. Estery aroma with evident banana. Taste is creamy and tastes of banana and wheat malt. Great balance, great beer.

First off, I want to say that I drink this beer all the time and enjoy it. But, I don’t know if this has as much to do with it being a great beer, rather more to do with the fact that it is easy drinking and smooth. The truth be told, this beer, like most Hefeweizen, is completely one-dimenional in taste: on the palate it is smooth and refreshing, and the finish is very easy to enjoy. But ’great-tasting’ or original, not a chance. The best compliment I can give this beer is that it is great during Oktoberfest when consumption is the name of the game, and drinking yourself silly is what everyone is doing. However, if I am sitting down to have a nice beer in the evening this one would leave me wanting something more. Anyway, enough rambling. Enjoy, cheers.
