Smokey and clove spice aromas come through with banana mixed in. Beer poured with a huge tall white head that lasts for some time, as it should. Yellow color and cloudy from the yeast that was swirled before pouring in the glass. Good clove spiceyness with with yeast flavor and a nice medium banana sweetness mixed in. Beer has a good finish that leaves me wanting more. A good classic german style wheat as I expect from a franziskaner.

Thin small bubbld head. Little retention. Gorgeous hazy dark yellow brew. Big banana smell with yeasty breadiness. Strong sweet banana flavor up front with with a slightly bitter finish to finish. Minutes later banana hangs around. This is a great hefe. I really enjoy this beer and will have it again.

bottle. Poured a cloudy light orange with a big off white head. Aroma is of the expected banana clove and spice, taste is smooth, bananas and clove wheat with some light citrus notes.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2009 Bottled. Whoa. Can’t believe the style percentile of almost 98%. This is distinctly average as would be expected. Only slightly hazy orange with a small off-white head and a touch of lace. The aroma is fizzy and bananas. The taste is creamy with vanilla and lemon notes. No real depth of flavour. Drinkable but dull.Score 2.9

Maybe I’m just an amateur, but this one was darned good (contrary to what I read below). Hefe’s are at the top of my list and this one is hard to top... in a bottle nonetheless. No more Paulaner for me, where both are available. Great citrus / fruity smell, nice golden cloudy appearance and a flavor that was perfect for a wheat beer.

The aroma has notes of apple and banana. The pour is a cloudy golden with a nice white head. The flavor is dry with apple undertones and a light crisp finish.

Draft at Frankfort Aiport--#22 on the 2006 Europe Tour. The color was yellow with a huge head. The citrus aroma overwhelmed you with large undertones of banana and wheat. The taste was exactly like the aroma, with smooth wheat and fruit flavors. The texture was just the right amount of chewiness. Easily found around the US, but it was special to have a German brew in Germany.
