The beer poured a cloudy straw color with a tan head and had good lacing. The smell was of spices with a some banana. There was a banana and ester taste, but overall the beer was a little thin. This is a decent hefe, but I have had better.

Hazy straw color, medium head. Aroma of wheat bread,, clove and a hint of pepper. Flavor is bready with bold spices. Very crisp and somewhat dry with a clean finish. Had this at the ballpark and went down well on a hot night.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2005 An excellent Hefe-Weisse. Very large thick head that lasts with a body of cloudy orange. Delicously sweet and fruity taste with hints of banana and apple at first. Has a sour and spicy aftertaste that lingers in the mouth too long. Soft carbonation and not too strong of a yeasty taste. Very well balanced but not as rich of flavor as the dunkel (dark) variety.

500 mL bottle pours a nice cloudy orangish color with a large head typical that never quite goes away. Taste is a good balance of fruity and yeasty. This beer is good out of the bottle and great when it’s fresh from the tap in a Biergarten in München.

Pours cloudy caramel with a large cappuccino head, aroma is pure Hefeweizen...delicious. Taste is instantly bananas then spices. A cracker.

(500 ml bottle: $1.99 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) This is most certainly a gorgeous beer. Pours a bright orange-golden body that’s fully cloudy, but I can still see quite a legion of carbonation bubbles rising quickly through the beer. The tall white head settles to and maintains a quarter-inch crown atop the beer for the entire session, leaving some patchy lacing. The nose is only mildly aromatic and is nicely balanced with wheat and banana, but there’s also some plastic table cloth going on there too. A balance of wheat malt and subtle banana in the flavor, but the finish seems a bit stale to me. Light-medium body tends to trail off toward wateriness in the finish. Contrary to what the visuals might indicate, the carbonation level is pretty light on the palate. You know, I seem to remember this tasting better years ago, and looking back at past notes, the quality seems to have dropped off now that it’s part of the massive conglomerate. Just not that exciting a beer any more.
