This Ale is the first brewed in Kansas since the pioneering days. The name "Ad Astra" comes from the Kansas State Motto - Ad Astra per Aspera, Latin words meaning "To the Stars Through Difficulties". We’ve blended Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts for a rich amber beer. The hops balance this malty sweetness, and we’ve chosen Northern Brewer and Fuggles hops for their flavor.

Pours dark amber with small white head, leaves a little lacing. Aroma was fairly light with roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. The taste followed the aroma and finished with mild bitterness. The carbonation was pretty lively.

Pours a rich cola brown, with a thick creamy white head. The nose is slightly malty. A fairly crisp flavor follows unexpectedly, with lingering berry hint. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish amber color with a great initial sweet, malty taste. Bready flavors with a bit of toffee note as well. Wonderful ale for drinking, not too carbonated but a wonderful medium body as well.

A very easy drinking brew. Pours dark amber with little off-white head. Smells like sweet malt but its faint. Taste is also sweet, thin body, not much hops but balanced with the malt. Its a nice beer while mowing my lawn. Nothing crazy but decent. Cheers foppa!

12 ounce bottle courtesy of foppa. Thanks! Pours a clear bronze color with a large tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malts and grassy hops. The taste is caramel malts, raisin, herbal and grassy hops. Medium bodied with slight lingering bitterness.

Pours clear brown cola color with small head and little lacing. Grainy aroma with some caramel sweetness. Toasted malt and grain taste with malt sweetness mid palate and some off tasting butteriness. Slightly bitter, almost astringent aftertaste like wer grain that's not pleasant. Low carbonation and light mouthfeel. Not my idea of a good amber ale. Some off flavors. Wouldn't buy again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Free State. Pours an amber color with white head. Malty sweet, bready/biscuit, caramel flavors. My favorite of Free State’s regular line-up. Very tasty altbier.
