On tap at the brewpub. Comes a cloudy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and malt. Taste is grapefruit, rye, pine, and a bit of chocolate. Very nice, easy to drink. TomDecapolis (4636) - Milton, Delaware, USA - APR 11, 2013

Sample (5oz) at the brewpub. A dark brown colored beer. Aroma is hop centric, gets some dank greens. Flavor is spiced up rye around the hops. Solid beer, clean, easy to drink. Leaves a long spiced rye and hop aftertaste. Another solid hop centric beer from Free State. ads135 (5053) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUL 2, 2012
The murky brown appearance fits its name perfectly. Off white head. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Subtle citrus sweetness accentuates the dominantly bitter flavor. The rye comes is a base layer throughout the taste and gets more pleasant through the tasting. First free state beer after a year long absence. Well worth the wait! theisti (4221) - Kansas, USA - JUN 25, 2012
10 oz draft pour at the Brew Pub in Lawrence, Kansas. The pour is a lightly hazed copper brown with a smallish off white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is bright citrus hops, soft malt sweetness and light roast and as it warms, a nice gentle Rye character. The taste is equal part of the bright citrus hope, the spicy Rye and the soft roast sweet malt character of the Brown. The palate is medium bodied, with a dry finish making this quite drinkable. All flavors played nicely together, fun beer.
