Honoring our favorite local blacksmith, this flavorful Stout is a selected mix of ten malts and five hop varieties. Imperial Stout was a key British export in the Baltic trade that elevated art and industry in Russia and England during the 18th Century. Celebrate craftsmanship and raise a glass to broader flavor horizons.

Smells mostly of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate smells. Taste has a hint of hop bitterness at the finish, but not overwhelming. Mouthfeel and carbonation are very smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a friend into a snifter. Pours a nice black with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, hops, and licorice.

Bottled, 355ml aged 4yrs many thanks to Doppelganger. Black with tan head. There is a milk chocolate character to this along with a fruity, plummy note, some tarry notes some caramel. Not as deeply flavoured as many Impy Stouts but there is a reasonable palate. Overall pretty decent.

Dark brown/black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and cocoa. Flavor is the same.

Draft/Fest. A- Weak, bland, subtle cocoa. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Roasty, cocoa, malty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Aroma was a bit of a let down and the taste was really traditional forward but still lacking. Needs some work but could be great.

Backlog from the Brony Bottle Share at Travlr’s. Dark brown with small lite tan head. Oats and roasted malt. Thin, boring.

Aroma is a little weak. Standard Imperial Stout scent, but muted and with a strange red wine vinegar characteristic. The appearance is nice - flat black color with a tiny cap of tan foam that leaves a lot of lacing. Nice creamy flavor with a welcome sweetness that opens up before giving way to hops and roasty bitterness. Booze burn in the aftertaste; I have never taken away points from a beer for that. Great palate, thick yet smooth. This beer was good, not great.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark black brown with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is roasted chocolate malt, black licorice and a little fruit.

The flavor is roasted chocolate malts, black licorice and some dark fruit and an ashy bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice imperial stout.

Dark black. Milky chocolate. Roasted. Heavy body. Bitter aftertaste. Good but not great.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a sparse tan head. Nose is dusty caramel, faint coffee and raisin. Coating medium body with a tang. Taste is coffee, grass, chocolate, licorice and caramel. A little bit of everything. Solid stout.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting. Pours a deep brown and capped with a small beige head. Nose is roasty, heavy roast, nutty, and some sweetness. Didn’t really care for the taste so much... heavy roast and a bit of licorice. Some dark fruit. The heavy roast seemed out of place and led into the sweetness being out of place.
