GABF 2004. Dark, chocolatey brown body and a tan head that refused to stand for very long. Big plummy, port-like nose with fat fruity raisin notes and lots of chocolate character. Nice rum raisin quality and wonderful depth of flavor. Body is medium-full and very silky. Great beer, sampled repeatedly.

Bomber. Dark dense brown pour with a soapy light beige head. Whiskey, wood, fudge, vanilla, soft but still fairly dense palate, dark fruit on taste. Yum.

2013 22-oz. bottle. Solid nose of charred oak, molasses, mild bourbon, and heavy milk chocolate. Pours flat dark brown. Nice, balanced taste of whiskey (solid heat to start), cocoa, oak, light vanilla, a touch of raisin, and some tobacco. The alcohol burn increases as the beer warms but never hits overpowering levels. Bottle shared by Eugene as part of a blind BA imperial stout tasting. Dark reddish brown pour was the lightest of the bunch. Nose brings chocolate, vanilla, touch of oak, and with perceptable alcohol. Some oxidation, more chocolate than roast, but pretty much right at the center of the flavor profile I’d expect from an imperial stout + barrel. Just doesn’t really gel for me the way I’d expect -- like all the parts are nicely there, but somehow the sum is less.
