12oz bottle as Golden..no mention of wheat. Medium bodied, straightforward, well made. Clean simple ingredients. Not a lot going on, but a pleasant enough session beer. DiarmaidBHK (6137) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 26, 2017
Sampler at brewpub. Pours golden with a thin head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Not much on the nose. Maltier than expected on the tongue. Crisp and clean on the finish. MetalNHopHead (2261) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - MAY 2, 2016
Free State’s Wheat State Golden is a light drinker, for sure. Golden shade and pure white suds. A clean, malty nose. Bread flavors with a hint of citrusy hops. Light-bodied and lively carbonation that’s just south of prickly. A nice brew for hot weather. p0rkch0p (137) - Missouri, USA - DEC 3, 2015
Nothing special here. The dryness stands out. Having this in the cold of winter, seems better suited to have outside on a hot summer night. Rating would be higher if the timing was right.

Golden beer with a foamy white head. Crisp cracker nose with hints of lemon. This is a light, easy drinking beer with some apple and orange notes over some cracker malts. A bit of lemon cookie in the finish. Good lawn mower beer.

Very good....a nice, light Kolsch. shrubber85 (11706) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 22, 2015
Bottle. Orange-apple malt and straw aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet lightly tangy lemon-apple, malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Medium body. Nice. bartzluke (598) - Oklahoma, USA - MAR 5, 2015
12 oz pour from bottle from fridge into mug. Little head. Straw color. Clear. Nice carbonation. Smells a little yeasty, but mostly clean. Tastes crisp, unassuming. A little bitterness. Not too bad, but not much going on. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - FEB 17, 2015
Flight pour on tap at the brewery (Lawrence, KS). Pours a glowing rich orange amber hue, transparent hue is fiery sun and amber sap glow. Frothy whitish head atop stays as a decent layer, mellow lacing from the ringer atop. Aromas are a bit of flaked wheat, some dust and dry straw meeting a mellow earthy hop. A faint underlying fruitiness hits the nose. Touches of earth,,dryness and spice, grainy flaked wheat and cereal elements. Initial is lighter end of the fold in body but not without some substance to it. Gentle bready malts, a flinty kick of estery fruit shows some life with some decent hop bitterness, grainy malts, earthy hops and gentle straw. Backend is a touch fruity, gentle flashes of lemon with some earthiness, florals and a bit of spice. Smoothed out backend with a touch of dryness, earth, lingering bread and that subtle kick of lemon juice making it a bit refreshing. Lighter, pretty crushable with a coolness to it on the palate. Nice. mike5326 (1788) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - FEB 1, 2015
