Cask: Seasonal - Summer & Autumn. Also available bottle conditioned exclusively at the Co-op as Gold Miner.
Winner of two awards in the 1998 beauty of hops awards, this beer was especially brewed to use the "first gold " variety of hops, it has been described (by the award judges) as "orange peel and apricot blossom blended together beautifully" we prefer to say that it is an incredibly hoppy golden beer well suited to all "hop heads" everywhere.
Ingredients: Water from natural sources under the Royal Forest of Dean; Barley grown in the Cotswolds and malted by Warminster Maltings; First Gold whole hops grown in the "Three Counties"; Yeast.

Good sweet aroma, an average tasting ale, but feels very dry in the palate.

Quite a metallic nose on this one with a hint of hops and fruit. Sweet taste with toffee and peanut flavours which lead into a fruity smooth finish. A nice ale.

Smells of a mouldy wall. Tastes quite rough. Really nice mouth feel and it seems to have an oaty body but the alcohol tears through on the finish which isnt that pleasant. Hint of lemon rind and some fruity hints. Feels like the kind of beer an 18th century farm brewer would produce. Surprisingly its quite drinkable.

0.5L bottle from The Co-operative, Parsons Green. Short-lived white top. Body is dark golden with full clarity. Aroma is grainy and light fruity with a certain sharpness to it. Unrefined malty sweetness in the flavor. Tight earthy bitterness. Edgy on the palate. Light to medium body. Not a favorite.

Some happy hops found, but nothing as fancy as it says on the commercial description.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle at home. Dissapointing bog standard ale. Lacks much of anything.
