Winner of two awards in the 1998 beauty of hops awards, this beer was especially brewed to use the "first gold " variety of hops, it has been described (by the award judges) as "orange peel and apricot blossom blended together beautifully" we prefer to say that it is an incredibly hoppy golden beer well suited to all "hop heads" everywhere.
Ingredients: Water from natural sources under the Royal Forest of Dean; Barley grown in the Cotswolds and malted by Warminster Maltings; First Gold whole hops grown in the "Three Counties"; Yeast.

TBone (18558) - Pori, FINLAND - AUG 7, 2009
Bottled (from Co-op as "Gold Miner", BB 06/2010). Golden color, not much head. Woody, grassy nose. Crisp citrusy flavor, a bit grainy feeling.

FatPhil (17334) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 14, 2008
500ml bottle (as Gold Miner)
Gold, ice-cream float head. Sweetish light hoppy aroma. Rich malty taste - grainy and dry resiny hops. Well balanced, and a little nutty.

yngwie (17284) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 2, 2006
Bottled as Coop Gold Miner. Pours clear, dark golden with a dense off-white head. Some roasted notes, caramel, malt and hops in the aroma. The flavor has bitterness at first, then there’s malt. Medium body and a hoppy finish with some anis. Decent beer. (061027)

bhensonb (15969) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 21, 2013
Bottle from a Co-op on Earl’s Court Road. Pours light copper with a white head. Aroma is very light caramel and light pitted fruit. Med body. Flavor is slight roast malt with a far amount of bitter - could be citrus. Drinks nicely. Finishes quite bitter.

imdownthepub (15519) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2004
Bottle Conditioned as Co-Op Gold Miner. Bright amber with white head. Nice looking beer, poured well. Spicy, coriander seed notes in the aroma and flavour with a sweetish malt base, perhaps a little too challenging for a long beer. The hops last the distance with a few honeyish and green nuances but just couldn’t lose the overwhelming peppery notes.

gunnfryd (15490) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 11, 2006
Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma is fruit, apple, malt. Flavour is fruit, hop, apple, caramel, malt.

HenrikSoegaard (14704) - Randers, DENMARK - NOV 17, 2012
Bottle as Co-op gold miner. Frothy white good mostly deminishing head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Week honey notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. OK.

Christian (13927) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 19, 2009
Golden with a small white head. Fruity aroma with a hint of laquer. Dry and wooden flavour with an unpleasant herbal finish.

Rune (13732) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 14, 2008
Copper golden body. Lively, huge white head. Fresh smell of sappy hops. The taste brings juicy malts and resinous hops with a touch of toffee. More hops to the ending. 500ml bottle as Gold Miner from a co-operative in Tayport, Fife 02.11.2008.

bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - APR 8, 2005
(Bottle) Pours a cloudy golden body with a medium-sized white head. Aroma of cider, sourness, and urine. Flavor of malt and mild hops.
