4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Stunning pour with a bright and clear tangerine body. The hefty, lingering tuft of khaki foam is creamy in its consistency and drapes sticky webs of lacing along the inside of the glass. The aroma was meant to be a showcase of Falconer’s Flight hops and west coast IPA’s, and it does not disappoint at all. Sweet orange peel greets the nose alongside floral, piney hops and caramel candies. Very juicy, and almost earth-like in the resinous hop quality.
Flavor matches the aroma well, with sweet caramel malts balanced nicely alongside a juicy, pungent hop flavor. Bitterness is subdued, allowing the tropical fruitiness from the Falconer’s Flight to last long into the finish with a flash of alcohol. Mouthfeel is perfectly executed--crisp and medium-light on the tongue, yet full enough to not feel in the slightest sense watered-down. Carbonation is smooth and chewy thanks to tiny, tight bubbles. Freetail nailed the West Coast style with this release.
Rated based on notes taken 9 Sep 2012 -- This Pours beautifully. Amber with thick pillow-y white foam resting on top. A very simple malt profile for this beer in order to highlight the hops. And a great job they do of that. onceblind (9630) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 25, 2014
Clear deep golden with a lasting sticky white head. Good earthy hop note with some piney and resiny bitterness-but mostly earthy. Good bitter flavour with some resin-and-pine flavors and a generic ipa malt body. Obviously the hops are on show and it’s really Californian. Just sorta resiny and bitter but not unbearably so. rumproasts (5359) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 4, 2014
Tap. Amber with small head. Medium malt body. A bit more bitterness than the buffalo hump, and bigger overall. travita (5003) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 26, 2013
Backlog bottle thanks to so many good ratebeerians. The look is clear, golden in color with a thinner off white head. The smell is hoppy, pine, grass, and ok. The taste is grass, pine, bitterness. kidmartinek (4999) - austin, Texas, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Pale copper. Lasting white head. A little spicy. Very palatable balance of floral hoppiness and weaker malt. Yeah. Traditional ass-kicking kind of IPA.

Pour out of bottle at ROYGBIV day, clear orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought grass, pine, big weedy, dank notes, slight orange peel into some biscuit and caramel, slight bready notes as well, yeast. Taste is a mix of nice dank hops, big orange peel, tropical notes come through as well into a bit of bread, yeast, slight earthy notes, finishing with some spice, pretty bitter. edgallow (4211) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 27, 2013

Rated in April 2012 (Backlog) - Gold in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is of pine and citrus with some floral notes. Taste is of pine and grapefruit. Steve_0 (3745) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Bottle shared @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pour is hazy orange with a big cream-colored head and good lacing. Huge weed, danky, resinous aroma - light garlic notes. Taste is not as overpowering as the aroma, but still heavy weed, dank hops biscuity, doughy and grassy with a huge bitter finish and lingering aftertaste. Medium body with high carbonation. Not bad, but a bit overdone IMO. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pours a fairly clear, orange/copper appearance with a tan head. Grapefruity, a bit spicy, dank hoppy aroma. A bit juicy, pineapple/citrusy, piney, sweet toasted malty flavor. Overall, not bad.
