Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 6, 2013
500mL bottle. Poured a fairly eerie shade of bright golden with a sticky white head. The aroma picked up lime, salt, and a bit of spruce over sour wheat and a bit of sourdough bread.. well-presented. The flavor found moderately-sour lime and wheat throughout.. accents of spruce and earth.. dry, lightly-sour lime and spruce on the refreshing finish. Light-bodied with low carbonation.. really good stuff.

Pours a half finger of head on a hazy light straw body. Aroma is mild lemon and salty bread... maybe. Taste has a mild salt throughout, the tiniest bit of lemon and then water. Texture is crisp. Interesting, but not much going on.

BOTTLE 50 CL from Koelschtrinker. Slightly hazy golden, small head. Clean malty Helles-like aroma with subtle fruity/cidery notes. Similar taste - sweet and tart. Surprisingly clean - nu funk, not much tartness and no spruce. Below threshold of perception saltiness. Full-bodied. Good.

(backlog 2015, bottles served during blind tasting @Whats Brewing 2015, 2nd session). - A personal favourite as far as spruce needle infusions in modern sour beers go: moderate green bath foam spruce enhances, instead of overpowers, a natural tartness. The mineral wheat base works well with the scented coniferous resins, holding back to stay interesting to the bottom of each bottle. - Along with Brewcifers Hops&Needles Spruce IPA among the more succesfull recent attempts to bottle German terroir in a novel way.

Detergent-like coriander, harsh juniper bitterness, lemon, very light sourness. Tart dryness.

Golden orange in color... Aroma of spruce tips, salt... Flavor is very spruce forward, light salt, fruity on finish... Not terribly salty for a gose... Nice ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer needs to be spruced up a bit. Tart and maybe a hint of salt in there. Lack of head leaves it looking and smelling a bit like some sort of cleaning fluid.

Another interesting and largely successful beer from Freigeist. Spruce assumes the responsibility of hops. Theres a nice spiciness as a result. Malt body accentuates the herbal qualities and a light dry sourness finishes it off.

pours golden with With a small cap that quick dissipates. Aroma of citrus, malt and pine. Flavor is much the same with a light saltiness. Light/medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Blah
