Like Freigeist Abraxas, its also inspired by the style Lichtenhainer, but this version is stronger (6% alc.) and contains more lactic sourness. Brewed until 2012 at Braustelle (375 ml bottle), from 2013 at Gller in Zeil (330 ml bottle).

IDraft @ tap & mallet, rochester. Hazed peach color, thin off-white head, lacey. Smells of fruit...soft, somewhat tart, peachy flavors with the faint mety smokiness lingering in the finish...as decent and refreshing as this is, I dont see much of a resemblance to berliner weisse. But maybe I do a bit with the tartness and the mellowness but the fruitiness is big towards the peach and the alcohol seems about double what it shoud be and that smokiness and lack of grainy notes...decent though.

Visual: Pours clear golden orange with a lasting 1mm micro head, fast steady singular streams.

Nose: soft smoky burnt rubber (lvl-4)-pungency

Attack: crisp, bright sour-light smoky impression

Mid-palate: light tingly-fizzy-burpy, (lvl-4-sweetness), tangy-sour lemony, barley-wheat malt

Finish: tart wheat malt palate roughish, light smoky rubber exhale, residual grainy barley malt

Summary: A very interesting revived beer style with loads of texture and an appetizing flavour profile. I like that the smokiness is clean and doesnt dominate the entire palate.

Is way to much of a smokey flavor to it. Not as sour as I was hoping for but drinkable.

Wonderful aromas of meat, smoke and ash. Oh fabulous blend of taste of smokiness and malty. OK bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth a weak moment. Even some citrus comes to the end. But still a really good beer. Follow me @ Kung av l @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottle at the Free Trade Inn. Pours light golden with a small head round the edge of the glass. The nose is smoked bacon and baked beans. Taste is a little creamy in the mouth with a lovely smoked flavour. Really delicious.

Cloudy/murky golden liquid. Thin lid of off-white bubbles spread over the large surface of my Weihenstephan bowl. Aromas of wheat, blue cheese and light smoke. Flavors are light, but yet well defined. Slightly sour wheat, bit of smoke, hints of dextrose/lactose. Finish has a bit of oak and brined cheese. This begs to be paired with a hearty salad. 12/12

0.5 l bottle from Rudat, bottled in 2015. Clear, golden amber with a thin, foamy, slowly diminishing, white head. Very smoky, a bit fruity and minimally aroma of smoked ham, campfire, wheat and a touch of apples. Sweetish, very smoky and minimally sourish taste of smoked ham, campfire, some wheat, apples and a touch of rhubarb, followed by a medium long, slightly tart and smoky finish. Medium body, smooth, slightly creamy and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Tasty, extremely well-balanced, love the subtle tartness in this. More persuading than the apple and pear version to me.

Draft 8 oz pour at No Anchor. Pours a shiny golden orange with a full cover foam head. How this isnt classified as a smoked beer, I couldnt tell you. Its as obvious as it gets, as far a Im concerned. Smoked flavor from beginning to end. Hard to pick up any other detail. Maybe a salted background. Not a bad beer, but as a gose? I have no idea whats going on here.
