Apariencia: mucho cuerpo, color marrón muy oscuro, casi negro, nada de carbónico y corona completamente inexistente.
Aroma: muy ligero pero complejo, toque funky, vinagre de Módena, nada de torrefactos.
Sabor: muy curiosa, funky, vino tinto, vinagre de módena, torrefactos, punto salado, muy interesante y curiosa, gana mucho cuerpo. Alcohol muy bien integrado, retrogusto no muy largo, punto picante.
Bottled (backlog). Black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, some funk as well as some strangeness (maybe the salt?). Flavour is rather similar, but has a very big sourness along to the malty, roasted and chocolaty side of it. On opening and pouring there’s a clear acidity, though fortunately not aceticity. Smells quit like a Harveys (Le Coq) RIS in the glass, bit of plumminess. Black, but no head no matter how it’s poured. In the mouth quite winey. Roasty base pleasant in the mouth, but it’s a very complex taste, and the roast is not the most important part at all. Sharp, but carbonation is very low. Acidity rules the roost - quite a bite. Only get a little saltiness in the finish later, curious. Late finish is dry old hops, nut papers, a little woody, some slight ashiness. Quirky, and interesting. I normally don’t like soured stouts, but this is is pretty OK.

The beer is near black with an inch of creamy, sand colored head. The aroma offers ripened dark fruits (plums, figs, raisins), half and half, sourdough bread perhaps. There is definitely a sour component to this beer. While unorthodox, I don’t find it off putting, per se. It seems as though my serving is a better sample than those of other reviewers. 33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning, BB 02-2012. Almost black colour, no head. Aroma of sauerkraut first, later more rich chocolate, less sour, some tar. Flavour is sour, chocolate, dark fruits, light salty, hard roasted malts, fruity ver sour lemon/acid finish. Light-bodied, no carbonation. I like the chocolate, but the sourness is overpowering imo. Bottle. Poured a watery looking very dark brown oil-like with a minimal frothy tan head which disappeared almost instantly. Aroma is sour and vinous. Flavour is quite a muted sourness with a hint of roast malt. Minimal sour aftertaste. Not particularly appealing.
