Bottled (backlog). Slightly hazy reddish/ambery brown colour with a mediumsized creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, some grass as well as some wooden and mildly toffeeish notes. Flavour is very similar, but also has a slight tart wooden edge going with it.

500ml bottle with label indicating "Freigeist Hoppeditz: Doppelsticke Alt" 7.5%. Slightly hazy, dark reddish-brown body is covered by a modest size but quite durable tan head. Both hops and medium malts appear in the aroma, along with a hint of smoke. Flavor: strong for a German beer or an alt, with ’extra’ malt and hops in good balance. Interesting finish has a moment of sweetness then rapidly turns bitter, stopping at a nice mild bitterness that lingers on in the aftertaste. Excellent medium, smooth and relatively lively body.

Lukaduke (3206) - Gray, Maine, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Pours a deep brown amber color with an off white eggshell foam... aromas are woody, earthy malts, caramel, and some grassy hints. On the palate it has a big slightly smokey, woody, full bodied, malt forward presence that is balanced by a grassy, bitter walnut, sour citrus finish that lingers and bitters nicely.

(375ml bottle best by 06-2013 thanks to bu11zeye) hazy medium brown with tinge of orange and creamy thin tan bubbles. Nose of oak, caramel, light honey and a touch of hops, smells quite nice. Taste of oak, wood esters, light berry, some saccharin too. Quite woody. Medium body that tends towards well carbonated, liking the linger more than the taste. One of the best alts I’ve had.
