pivnizub (11002) - Bochum, GERMANY - JAN 20, 2018
Buddel: Ruby-amber coloured, hazy, small persistent tanned head with a little lace; moderate sweet-bitter aroma of dried fruits, toasted malt, caramel and mainly herbal hops; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and sticky; lingering and drier caramelly and bitter finish, hops sticking to the palate in the aftertaste. Quite good, but nevertheless not perfectly balanced...

Bottle from Lagerlager - clear brown color, off-white head. malty, syrupy sweet, grainy, hoppy. well balanced. dark malts. goes down very well for the alcohol. still, in no way comparable to f.e. Uerige Doppel-Sticke.

Hazy dark brown with average head. Malty, roasted, sweetish, fruity, raisins, prunes, soft carbonation.

0.5 l bottle from 'Britische Biere', I believe it's 2015 vintage. Clear, deep ruby with a medium large, frothy, stable, beige head. Sweetish, intensely malty and quite fruity aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes, figs and a touch of resin. Very sweet, malty, quite fruity taste of raisins, prunes, figs, molasses and some burnt sugar (don't get any smoke which is mentioned on the label), followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, slightly boozy finish. Medium to full body, almost oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Rich and heavy, very pleasant beer for the cold days.

I do not think it is the right alt beer, it is something totally different in style, it is like an ale, stout-ish, something between barley-wine and a little bit lager, but was hoppy a lot. No compare to other Alt beers I ve tried. But if we forget it is alt beer, the beer is good, with aroma, sweetness, you cannot feel the alco, it is malty, hoppy... smells of quality.

Aroma is caramel, molasses, dark fruit, slight booze, it smells great. Appearance is dark brown, hazy, light brown head. Taste is robust, dark fruit, caramel, booze, earthy hops, roasted malt, molasses, strong but good. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, a pretty bitter but sweet aftertaste. Overall, this is pretty good.

Dense chestnut color with a moderate, but stable sized dark beige head. Big sweet malt scents. Some mild resin and smoke. A bit meaty. Flavors start with dark caramel, and a bit of wintergreen. Smooth and thick, with enough zip to keep it lively. Finish is rather dry, yet the linger has some nutty and toasted malt. Nice Alt. 12/12

From bottle. Beer pours dark brown, with little cappuccino foam. Aroma is inviting, with cherries and fruits under spirit. Body is medium. Taste is wonderfully balanced between sweet and bitter, going from the former to the latter. More feelings, like some chocolate and licorice. A great beer!
