Opaque, brown-black with a thin light tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, berries, dark fruit and mild peat.
Taste of roasted malt, dark fruit, peat, bittersweet chocolate, berries and sour cherries.
Medium body and low/medium carbonization.
Nicely balanced with gentle sour fruit and smoky peat flavors blending pleasantly with the roasted malt flavors.

A dark brown porter with a thin creamy lacing brown head. In aroma, smooth chocolate with dark fruits, light peaty notes, alcohol warmth. In mouth, a nice fruity dark fruits and chocolate with balanced smoked bacon, vanilla and alcohol warmth. Well done.

Drunk in a snifter at BrauKunstLive! 2013 in München. Freigeist’s Peated Porter was also very interesting. It was full on peaty/malty all over the tongue, not smoked malt, though. I liked it, but maybe only as something to mix it up once in a while, but my friends hated it. It had a thick, silky feel and went down well.
