Rating #2874 - 2018.01.20 - #RBAGWinter2018 - Bottle - Pours a jet black with a tan foam. Aroma is bourbon, coffee, molasses, earth. Palate is some roasty coffee, some dark chocolate, some really boozy bitterness. So good.

Nice start to the Fremont tasting. Ever so slightly meaty BA character, well intermingled with the base bere. Very very smooth, esp if the 14% is correct. Low 4.3 (SW was a high 4.3, coffee a 4.4).

Thanks to Toby for this 2017 bottle! Pours pitch black with a small head of tan foam. It looks so thick and creamy during the pour. Nose is big notes of bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate, oats, and yeah, a heaping helping of booze. Big bourbon taste initially but that gets swallowed up by massive roasted malt and bitter chocolate. Sub flavours include vanilla, oats, coffee, mild hoppy bitterness. Yikes. The alcohol is assertive but not overwhelming, imho. Full bodied. Carbonation is healthy. Mouthfeel is sticky and smooth. A sipper that I can't resist sipping on. Another beer that will make me sad when the bottle is empty. That Fremont!

22 ounce bottle from a trade. Thank you! The beer is a thick used motor oil black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma is ashy and boozy. Sweet toffee and nutty notes throughout. Dry and a little earthy in the finish. Big body and medium carbonation.

Dark brown. Lots of coffee, nice bourbon, good dark sugars. Sweet, oaty, boozy, barrel vanilla wood, really nice.
