Poured from a bomber bought from the brewery into a Fremont goblet on 05.21.14.
A: Midnight black with some red at the bottom. No head, but has a tan ring at the top.
S: Coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, caramel. Sweet smelling.
T: Black coffee is dominant. Char is subtle.
M: Watery and overly carbonated. There was a big fizz when pouring, like soda.
O: This was a rare miss for Fremont. It tasted good, but only like coffee. There was no vanilla or coconut as the label read. It was also way too bubbly and watery for a porter. Knowing Fremont and from what other reviewers have written, I wonder about the bottle that I got. jcartamdg (3445) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 27, 2014
Pours jet black with a thick mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, and a hint of coconut. Taste follows, loads of chocolate, with a touch of vanilla, coconut and coffee. Really nice. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - AUG 15, 2014
Bottle thanks to my summer secret santa. Black pour with a big foamy head that fades pretty slowly. Aromas are vanilla beans, coconut milk, coffee, light roast, and light chocolate. Tastes slightly sweet at first but quickly becomes bitter. Lots of vanilla and roasted coffee. Light coconut milk and cocoa. A hint of dark fruit. Medium body. Mouthfeel could be a touch better. Creamy but a little chalky too. Really good overall though.
