Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Oatmeal Milk Stout with Cherries

In the Time Before Light, Unicorns ruled the Universe. And Time passed. Until it stopped passing and began to make Beer. And it was good. But Time was Lonely, so it begat two Breweries. And thusly Fremont Brewing and Perennial Artisan Ales were spat into the World. And they made Beer. And it was good. When, Lo, one Day, they made Beer together and aged it in Bourbon Barrels for a long time. And then they added Cherries. And Aged it a long time. But it wasn’t good enough for their elevated taste. So, they added Unicorn Tears. And it was Good. Behold, Burst Forth into the World is Barrel-Aged Unicorn Tears. Enjoy only with those that are worthy. …Never Play Leapfrog With A Unicorn…Cheers! Bottle pour at Hops & Pie. Black appearance with a brown head. Aroma of milk chocolate, mild coffee, roasted malt, light cherries, light vanilla and a touch of oaky bourbon. Similar flavor, rich, malty and complex with moderate sweetness and light cherry notes. Medium to full body with soft carbonation and a smooth creamy feel. Lingering chocolate covered cherry finish. Pretty tasty overall.

Dark brown. Thin, bubbly head. Light bit of cherry on the nose, with a hint of chocolate. There is a lot of dark sugars, with a hint of chocolate… but the cherry almost brings a tartness to it. That lends it vibrancy, but in a way detracts from the richness.

Nuts, cherries, milk chocolate, vanilla, some alcohol. Sweet cherries, milk chocolate, nuts, alcohol, heavy sweet.

650ml bottle (thx, Sean!) from at Alex's. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is bourbon with dark fruit notes. Similar taste with lots of cherry and bourbon character. Too much of fruitiness here as for Imperial Stout. Still good, though.

Chuck’s CD, Seattle. Anniversary Party. Thick mocha foam ring on very dark brown. Nose is roast malt and chocolate dipped rum cherries. Rich, sweet and fairly boozy. Cherry and raspberry natural sweetness under the thick, boozy chocolate backbone. Warming booze. Quite sweet, but I’m more or less for me with it with a small pour. Decadent.

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Corbet’s house on November 06. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a nice black color with a thin ring of light tan head that fades away quickly without any lace. The aroma is pretty solid. There is a big roasted malt with a nice cherry and a good chocolate. There is a hint of bourbon that opens up with a light oak and a pretty good vanilla that comes in late. This is like a chocolate covered cherry with a little bit of bourbon or roast. The flavor is much of the same. The thick and heavy chocolate opens it up with a nice cherry and a good oak and bourbon with a light vanilla on the finish. The mouth feel is medium to heavy bodied with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly smooth cherry and chocolate with a light vanilla and bourbon that polishes it off. This is solid. I like it. 9 4 9 4 17

Sample at What The Funk!? on 10/04/2017. Brown-black color with a medium thin beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, roast malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, roasted malt, fudge and a touch of pitted fruit. The finish is oaky and roasty with a bourbon and cherry aftertaste. Good beer overall.
