Wombata (622) - Kobe, JAPAN - AUG 12, 2015
Aroma: Sweet, floral orange, ripe passion fruit, malt, resin. Palate: Flavor and body quickly turn thin. Flavor: Orange, passion fruit, Comment: Sweeter and less bitter than Two Beers Day Hike. Aroma is very good, but the flavor and palate are not. The thin body and flavor from the mid-palate just seems wrong. Their Interurban IPA doesnt have this fault though it too has a rather short finish.

651 ml. bottle. Bottled 11/17/14. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled off white head, with moderate lacing, over a clear, gold (SRM 6) body.....nose is toasted malts, with hints of biscuit, light pine, citrus from the hops, no esters, balanced.....taste is mild toasted malts, bread, light pine, slight citrus notes, no esters, balanced....mouth feel, medium body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This is a clean, crisp, easy drinking beer. Unfortunately both the hops and malts are a bit muted, with the hop backbone being especially quiet. This is most probably due to the age of the bottle, but perhaps the hop selection. American Pale Ales are supposed to be hop dominated, and this one is not. BJCP 6/3/13/4/6
