Bomber from Gail’s Hops & Grapes in Hickory, NC, opened 4/13/11. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of rich chocolate notes, roasted malts, faint nutty notes. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, bitter citrus and floral hops, nutty finish. Medium bodied. Straightforward porter, but very well made. I can imagine myself sitting at some bar in Asheville putting back pint after pint of this stuff.

4/30/15. 22oz bottle from Bird Dog. Dark brown pour with a small tan head, great lacing. A quaffable session porter? Buzzwords? It’s 6% - seems normal to me. Or were they referencing the drinkability? Oh well, here goes. Nice aroma, biscuit, toasty, light nuttiness, lots of chocolate. Tons of chocolate in the flavor, caramel, biscuit, lots of lingering toastiness, maybe some nuttiness? I sense some diacetyl on the tongue, but it’s not unwelcome in this case. Not a bad brewski.

22 ounce from Bruisin Ales. Big mouth of cocoa powder. Nice carbonation. Leaves a bit of fizz, though. Dry chocolate. Body not to heavy. Medium. Decent.
