22 oz bomber pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of malt, citrus and a subtle sweetness. Taste of Malts and a nice hop bitterness. brew_lord666 (1) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JUN 1, 2012 does not count
well done ipa from my hometown of asheville nc. i got a 22oz bottle, at first smell i noticed citrus above a slightly earthy smell. the taste is a very strong yet drinkable hop flavor which leaves the mouth feeling dry shortly after. PaperKnife (82) - - MAY 28, 2012
Draft at the tasting room. Deep amber, thin white head. Aroma is sweet, cotton candy, and grassy. Grassy, caramel, bitter. nearbeer (5609) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 25, 2012
22 oz. Clear copper with a small, trying-to-last cover of foam. Big nose of dank citrus, peppery resin and caramel. Flavor is similar, but with a little more leftover ashtray. Light-medium body is slick and soapy, a tad too fizzy, and finishes very dry. Pretty nice session IPA. nuplastikk (6456) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 30, 2012
22oz bomber to the dome. Unfiltered dulled orange-brown, thinnish, sort of translucent. Foamy off-white head. Sweet toffee aroma. Big chewy rye-like notes, as a previous rater noted, approaching Barleywine in a lot of it’s flavors. Solid all the way around, sort of grounded in a big East Coast manner. A good beer, not really nailing the style though.

Originally reviewed: 1/13/12. Saw this one at my local shop and as I am always excited to try new local IPAs, I picked it right up. Cracked this bomber on 1/9/12. Poured into my Surly pint glass.
Pours a dark ruby orange. Half-finger off-white head. Little retention. Little lace. Nose is sweet with candy malts, citrus tones and an earthy hoppy singe. Great mouth. This is one of the first French Broad brews that I’ve had didn’t overflow or burn the palate with an extraordinary amount of carbonation. Very juicy hops bursting with flavor. Citrus - orange, grapefruit. Sweet kiss on the finish. Fantastic balance. A killer standard IPA from NC. Next to the rotating-yet-elusive Jade, this is my favorite NC IPA. I love it. coolpop (1394) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - APR 5, 2012
Draft at brewery. Poured clear copper with a smallish off-white head. Aroma and flavor were of floral, citrus, dank hops. Quite bitter. Decent caramel malt backbone. Slightly chewy texture. Solid but not spectacular. bhensonb (15765) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 4, 2012
Bomber from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours clear dark copper with a creamy/foamy beige head that’s trying to ring lace. Aroma of arguably citrus hop over somewhat toasted caramel - almost a brown sugar sensation. Med body. Flavor is citrus hop plus maybe a bit of veg - then there’s arguable caramel followed by a brown sugar bit. Not sticky, it just makes me think this stuff wanted to be a barley wine. Interesting version. Finishes nice and bitter. Beerona97 (2399) - Washington, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Hazy amber orange, frothy beige head. Aroma of citrus, old hops, toffee. Taste is a little stale, lots of toffee, dark fruit, woody bitterness. Ok beer. I need to go to Asheville sometime and try this. SSSteve (4006) - - MAR 24, 2012
bottle. clear dark orange under a large white head. nose of spruce and sweet malt. piney flavors with bready sweet malt. medium body with a long dry, grassy, astringent finish.
